General Medical issues thread

With my new arteries and multiple blockages gone (superfluous to requirements) my BP is now reduced to acceptable levels.

We still have no answers to why my arteries were growing back through the stents so I hope it does not become an issue later. I have read about high VEGF protein levels increasing immune system response ... maybe I am rejecting the stents.

I take a Zanidip to keep my blood pressure In an acceptably low range. High blood pressure is something I need to avoid.

The best thing about radiation is there is no pain like post surgery and none of the side effects that chemo produces.
Although can make patients ill depending on where and how strong. Mine (breast) was a doddle after chemo.

Had a session of 8 radiation bursts (24Gy) at the end of last month. Now have to wait for 3 months for next CT scan to see if it was successful.
and fingers crossed for you.

A puzzling post from a supplicant approaching 10k posts...
You may have an underlying medical condition or simply be mercurial ; motivated and driven by your innate persona.
It's easy enough to find out.. slow yourself down. VitB step one (Blackmore executive b stress) , herbal relaxants step two (valerian et al) ,or medicine (who have a cornucopia of "downer" pills) step three.
Every chemical affects individuals differently but relatively harmless and non dependent substances can make a huge difference..

Diet can also have a massive influence on stress and anxiety levels. It's worth assessing your diet to determine if that is a factor. A change in the Gentleman's diet decreased his anxiety significantly.

Obviously there are some issues that can cause anxiety at the moment that are out of our control - eg COVID. If you can identify some controllable stressors, that may help.

I know many don't want me here, but every morning I wake up and my anxiety levels are so high that when I wake up I feel like it could be the end of things. My heart races so much that I wonder what is going to happen.
I had pacemaker mediated tachycardia (PMT) for a few months and I agree tachycardia (where the heart races) can be most disconcerting leaving you wondering what will happen next. On my recent hospital stay I was told I had some arrhythmia through the night and subsequent blood tests indicated my magnesium was at low levels. I am now taking magnesium tablets (prescribed Blackmores MagMin 500mg equivalent Mag-Sup) just to make sure the heartbeats stay stable.

Thanks for the suggestions, will focus on diet first as not keen on medication for things. Cutting out sugar seems to help.

Removal of sugar can definitely help. The Gentleman found his anxiety and insomnia significantly reduced when he changed to a keto/low carb diet. Another plus was there was a significant amount of weight reduction (that was needed) with no real increase in exercise.

Magnesium is a natural mineral that has many benefits for your health. Perhaps get it checked next time you get bloods tested.

My cardiologist put me on Farxiga to help strip glucose seeing I had a reading over 6. It helps the kidneys improve the blood sugar levels.

Two months to go until the next CT scan to find out if the radiation was successful, but now have to decide on whether or not to have a shoulder (double) reconstruction.
Oh, and just for fun, will have a return to doc to have stitches out just above an eyebrow where he took some tissue for a biopsy for a possible Lentigo maligna melanoma.
Sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
And can't even go anywhere.

Double! So who's gonna wipe your ar5e?
I've had 2 shoulder reconstructions, separately, not together and a bicep tenodesis. I cannot imagine how anyone would cope having more than one at a time.

Well the biopsy is back and the possible malignant melanoma is malignant.
GP has referred me to an oculoplastic surgeon who comes to CBR from SYD every other week.
Sometimes I just wonder
Sorry to hear that, Is this in the eye? I had a feeling that melanoma of the eye was slightly different from elsewhere in the body. My sister in law had it a few years back and it has been successfully treated though I thought was not surgery but radiation therapy.

Its just above the eyebrow. I was wondering whether it could be treated by radiation.
