Fly Well. New QF Covid procedures

So - why the hell are they checking IDs on an intrastate flight?

The explanation given was that people could transit from SYD-BNE-CNS and they may not have been picked up in Brisbane.

Currently anyone other than Queenslanders or exempt persons are required to self isolate for 14 days with the isolation address recorded at the point of entry but given this is recorded leaving the gate area in Brisbane someone might have remained in the gate area off a flight from Sydney then boarded the Cairns bound flight.

Because we don't trust anyone from south of the border. ;)
Besides border not open officially until 10/7.

So - if the border is closed, you should be able to fly between Brisbane & Cairns without an ID check. Because the border is closed - and southerners can't come - because the border is closed. The border isn't open, because it's closed. The border is closed.

All Queenslanders can say nowadays.... ;)

Ah but you southerners are always trying to put one over us Queenslanders. We'll end up having to dig a moat all around QLD. o_O :cool:

So you’ll build a moat and still check IDs between Brisbane and Cairns?

It’s also amazing that Queenslanders are immune to the virus - so if one of you are down south for a month and return you can’t bring it back. Yep, this is a water tight border and not a political ploy to get the premier re-elected.

Yes, we Queenslanders have nothing to declare, but as for those way down South, some of whom will try and do a sneaky ... 😉

Don't you know that holding a QLD drivers licence gives you immunity from contracting Covid19 while you are in NSW or SA and then return to QLD? 🙄

Y’all still have those s*tty laminated library cards for licenses? Maybe that’s the secret.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

That might help you for your upcoming flight but doesn't explain why they allow people to buy bundles where they cannot offer all of the benefits associated with them.

So turns out my $10 voucher (Max bundle) bought either a muffin or banana bread and a bottle of water. I mean, why even bother. At least give us a savoury option. Calling it a meal is a pretty big stretch.

Agree - it's not going to be a meal. Considering a tiny bag of chips, or a 50g serve of olives is $5 - you're not going to see the $10 go very far :(

You don’t even get that option. Who wants banana bread at 5pm?

Also, where’s the booze?

health and safety!! Well... it was for qantas ('it's so safe you can fly 6 abreast, but so unsafe we can't press 'on' for the ovens). It seems harder to justify for Jetstar given their profit channel from BOB.

As for the timing of the meal... I never understand the issues with this. For me food is food. My stomach can't distinguish between carbs. I'm either hungry, or not. (Same as people who reckon they *can't* eat a breakfast at the end of a long haul arriving at 5pm. Never understand why they *can't*.)

I agree with timing of meals.Don't mind Vegas where you can have breakfast any time you like.
In my last stint in Launceston on a couple of occasions I had bacon and eggs for the evening meal because I felt like it.

I'm sure its been said a number of times here but I'm just not getting the reduction of service on regional routes.
Got on a flight yesterday, packed to the gunwales on a Dash 8 so it was shoulder to shoulder.
Pack of coughpy crackers and a bottle of water, 5pm and no alcohol service and I still don't understand that either, as everyone was eating their coughpy crackers with their hands, and to add insult to intelligence we were asked to practice social distancing on disembarkation.
Hope this is not a permanent enhancement.

Though I got much more on my recent LST-MEL Dash 8 1 hour flight than on the 2 hour mainline QF flight MEL-BNE.Same savoury snack but on the Dash 8 we were all given the sweet snack as well.

We saw these reductions of service on QF post 9/11 & Ansett Collapse (effective the same day Australian time). I never got it then because Qantas gained a massive chunk of market share and every flight was effectively full.

These are cuts for economic reasons, not health.

We should all know this by now! It's the very simple 'flying is so safe you can sit six abreast, but so unsafe we can't turn on an oven' policy.

Remember that and you'll never be confused again :D
