First time staying in a Melbourne hotel! ;)
I don't normally do staycations, but with the possibility of my Nov trip actually going ahead decreasing by the day, I am getting desperate....so much so that I decided to do this (and a shopping tip to Chaddy of course).

Classic King Room, 1004

Round sofa....it is comfy though.

View is the parking lot🤣

Badly designed bathroom....sigh
Seriously, bend down every time you need to pick up a towel?!

Social distancing rules.

Conclusion:
Looks pretty. However the designer probably was not thinking about the user experience.
No charging port by the sofa or the bench...
Only free to air tv.
Lighting control was impossible - well I didn't figure it out anyways.
No soft closing of doors in bathroom
Extremely warm doona (this is not Japan last time I checked?)

I can go on and on.....sigh, it could be a good hotel but not now!

View is to die for

Personally I loath Chadstone, such a generic shopping experience - you could be anywhere.

But for those that like syndicated global brands and ease of access to the mega mall - it would be a perfect location!

I would really like to do a staycation and support local business but it seems like most hotels will be like this and have half service, so it's not really worth bothering!

I went mainly because I'm really bored....I'm generally not big on socialising but my god this lockdown is killing me....

Thank you for the trip report!! A friend of mine was going to use their Accor free night for a stay here. Glad they didn't.

$35 for the 'light' breakfast. OMG. Pricing like that is ridiculous. It's no wonder many people will holiday overseas where cost isn't something you have to worry about every meal and every time you want a drink!

Indeed!

I go to Japan a lot, and often people ask: is it expensive? I always answer, cheaper than Australia.

As a former native of Melbourne from the late 1960's to 1981, the thought of there being a luxury hotel at Chadstone Shopping centre is mind-boggling enough. Next you will tell me that there is one at Northlands, Carlton is no longer the haunt of poor students, and that Port Melbourne is trendy!

Although I won't show this report MrsK as she doesn't mind Chadstone with Carla Zampatti and the rest... Shopping and a luxury hotel - that might be just too much temptation.

Right now there's a promotion on: spend over 6888 at selected luxury stores you get one free night at this hotel ;)

Thanks for the report. I was wondering if the hotel was worth visiting in combination with a shopping trip. I think I will give it a miss for now.

Thanks for the report. For anyone considering a stay, seems like a good option to skip the break/meals and just pop down to the x2 food courts and numerous eateries in the shopping centre (unless Vic goes back into a state wide lockdown😅)

It is not looking good right now isn't it?!

I wouldn't mind staying there at all if the pricing is good. I prefer to stay in the Eastern suburbs every time I come down to MEL.

Given it is next to the shopping centre you can always walk down to have breakfast there instead. There are plenty of options.

The timing of opening is unfortunate, and I have no idea how many shops will be closed forever at Chadstone due to COVID.

Its 99% foreign chains, I’m sure they will survive don’t worry!
