So, what music are you listening to now?

Local ABC radio here, 666 is asking for songs with a place in the name that means something to you.

My choices, Kathmandu, Bob Seger,

and as several posts above, London Calling, The Clash.

Maybe North to Alaska, Johnny Horton, we were singing that in the car on the way to Stewart in B.C. And crossing the border to Hyder, Alaska, where we got Hyderised and have the certificate as well.

MrsK and I had a good night listening to and watching the Eagles - Hell Freezes Over DVD, which I think is one of the best live performance DVD's made (big call I know). I bought the DVD 15 years ago and have been waiting until I got a big screen tv plus a decent dvd player and connected sound system to be able to play it. I got it.

Earwig at the moment.
Great stuff!

MrsK is not into Neil Young, but I am. So I just pulled up my favourite song that I put the volume up to 11 in the car when I need some solace - Neil Young Hey Hey My My into the Black. I remember 20 years ago after some heavy moments in my life, cruising down the Clyde Mountain to go go diving, windows down, music up and just enjoying the sound & life

Play Ghost Tran at 11. You’ll be impressed.

I started listening to 2JJ from kickoff in 1975, they started broadcasting on 1540khz which was the frequency of 2CN in Canberra. That station moved to 1440 which if I remember correctly one of the few "free" frequencies on the AM band at that time.
I lived in Canberra, but a simple long wire antenna could receive 2JJ here. I believe that transmitter was an emergency one on lowish power, it is/was based in Liverpool. Anyway, I still listen to to JJ and JJJ and ABC Jazz, depending on what car I'm in and what mood I'm in, I also enjoy ABC Classical. SBS Chill also gets airplay, I don't tend to listen to my own prerecorded music in the car.

Anyway, on today's list including

I've listened to JJ pretty much since it hit the air and now listen to JJJ and JJJ Unearthed. I think JJJ has lost its way somewhat.
Who remembers Gayle Austin?
Hmm. Not really, maybe?!

Anyone remember Mad Mel on 2SM? About 50 years ago? Used to listen to him on AM with 30ft aerial from BNE. A few years before 2JJ.
