Hi All,

I need some advice from the brains trust on this forum.

I, like many on here, have hundreds of thousands of points sitting with velocity. With the current COVID-19 situation and virgins financial position I’m concerned that if the airline was declare bankruptcy points may disappear..

What’s the likelihood of this happening and should I withdraw my points by purchasing gift cards to get some cash value at what I have..?

am I making a mountain out of a mole hill.. or is there a real threat to my velocity points been wiped out..?

I've redeemed vouchers over the last three days and not one confirmation email yet.

Has anyone got any confirmation or actually received a gift voucher (or any order) from the VA store yet?

Check your spam/junk folder. That's where my email was.

Not seen anything yet. I imagine they are overwhelmed, but has anyone else received gift cards recently, and what was the lead time?
My gift cards took a little over 10 business days.

You'll see several reports of this if you check the posted messages.

10 to 14 days seems the standard delivery time.

My JB HiFi gift cards have been delivered and spent and a new washing machine and TV were delivered yesterday.
Nice, what TV did you buy?

I have started the laborious process of redeeming one GC a day lol

Can't even get into Velocity redeem area of website at the moment.

Transferred 700k velocity to KF Thursday last week..

held off as long I thought best to give VA the best chance, but the recent pleading by VA’s new CEO for government help and desperate attempts by VA staff on here & other socials to get us to help push through this support in some sort of grass routes campaign lead me to believe it all going down hill quickly at Spring Hill..

After hanging on and hoping for the best (but expecting the worst) I have gone and done something I never imagined in my wildest dreams I would ever do.

Yesterday I cancelled 2x EY reward F bookings o CDG (J on the return) - this was to be our Christmas Euro trip at the end of the year. Points were refunded today. I subsequently went on to the Velocity Store tonight and spent 800K on a Weber BBQ, Breville slow cooker, Dyson link purifier, Sonos soundbase, Airpod Pros and Sony headphones.... I'm still partially in shock I think. 😳😳😳

The world is a very different place now and the airline industry is going to be pretty unrecognisable when this is over. As someone who has pretty much exclusively flown with VA for the past 13 years and loved the experience (incl the ability to redeem with EY) I do feel the VA chapter is coming to a close. I really hope they can make it. And if by some miracle they can, I will be there to support them once planes are back in the skies.

Yep until they stop it all!
Some vouchers don't seem to be in the store anymore.

Agree: not even Myer available, so I had to settle for (laboriously) David Jones.

Can't recommend Country Road (also a Woolworths Holdings South Africa - no relation to Oz Woolies - though as one or two in that area I speak with suggest it "may" go under even though same ownership as DJs.)

Despite a newspaper article tonight (Tues 7 April) suggesting there were "options" (recapitalisation I think) being examined, VA's in a lot of trouble.

A really hard decision. I feel for you.

I can however say your Sonos choice will never be regretted. Incredible sound, much better than Bose and the others. Enjoy.

How did you manage to get through to Virgin in order to request the cancellation?

Pretty easy to get through on the phone 4 platinum members. I got confirmation my wine is on the way yesterday a day after I ordered it.

If the order status of Gift Card purchase is pending , does it mean they are reviewing the order or is it in queue for them to pick it up ?

Still nothing from them on any purchases.... So annoying.

Was your email from Velocity or Collinson Group? (their outsourced supplier)

Cashed in some points last night.... bought the other half a new Dyson.... Wish me luck!

I received my order confirmation as soon as I clicked Buy/Order (whatever the button was called).

On a side note, I felt rather emotional doing so. Strange times indeed!

Yes. You'd think cleaning equipment was shared, just like the cleaning duties.

It reminds me of a former colleague who bought his wife a new washing machine ....... for her birthday! This was over 20 years ago - they are divorced now.
