I need to get a component shipped from the Los Angeles area to Melbourne, the supplier usually ships with UPS, given the current situation where most Trans-Pacific carriers are likely to stop flying very shortly I'm wondering if UPS normally use the airlines for freight to Australia or do they fly their own freighters down to here? Hopefully some plane spotters amongst the AFF members will know as I know full well that UPS has the world's most useless call centre.

I have seen UPS freighters at Sydney airport cargo.

Yes I have seen them at SYD and they do have an aussie website.

Yes they fly 6 times per week to SYD with Monday being the only non serviced day.
We do a fair bit of work with them so know it arrives just after 1700 as a rule

Thanks everyone - much appreciated as that means that I can order the component with reasonable confidence that it will still arrive.

The item might arrive in Australia, but will it be delivered to the correct address?

From my experience UPS has a poor record in this regard.

Each state is different but in SA for instance UPS no longer have a fleet and their freight is outsourced to Couriers Please and Startrack AP

Generally they do deliver to the right address for us - but if ever there is a problem and you need to contact their call centre then you are pretty much stuffed.

We find TNT to be the most reliable, unfortunately FedEX bought them out and are slowly converting them to FedEX.
