Christmas morning, a pair of gang gangs showed up asking for food, so we put sunflower seeds out and they delicately ate them from along the top of the balustrade without dropping one. They have never visited before and yet they actually allowed hand feeding. It made for a lovely Christmas morning. I don’t usually feed, just water, but this was unique.

There are a pair of wedge tails who nest near daughter's place. She has been following them for about 3 or 4 years. The female is very old - from records we reckon about 20! But inspire of the horrible heat, and dry conditions and now the smoke, they have successfully reared another youngster, nearly full grown now. such a beautiful bird.

Plenty of Eastern and Crimson Rosellas about in and around our yard usually (close to the ACT), but for the past three or four weeks I've seen and heard King Parrots as well.

I wonder if they relocated slightly during the bushfires?

Didn't see any last year, so has been a pleasant change.

Now that I've seen this thread I'll have to get to work with the camera.

When I last visited Canberra there were birds all over the trees at the ANU campus. I couldn't get a clear enough view or photo to figure out what type of bird they were. I'm wondering if they were Crimson Rosellas.

They could well have been Crimson Rosellas.

Apparently I speak the Bundy dialect of magpie talk.Mum was feeding junior.I started my magpie call and junior runs straight over to me.

Mum and Dad have about 12 every morning and evening at the back door. Mix of families built up over few years. The young ones come inside like they own the joint and hassle the dog... mum has to mop every morning and mince and bird meal for the magpies is on every shopping list. Think it might be too late to do anything
