Leaving in 4 weeks. Reviewed my standard packing list.
  • Double the usual quantity of hand sanitiser,
  • Added some disposable gloves
  • Added some disposable masks
  • Added pack of sanitary wipes (for aircraft fixtures et al)
  • At least 2-3 weeks extra meds in case I get stuck somewhere on the way back.

I never travel without my work leatherman and duct tape....comes in very handy wrapping stuff to take home.
If I go to nz, I'll take my chef and petty knife over....love to cook the mussels and I slice up my own sashimi. Cannot stand a dull knife....
In a pinch I have sharpened knives on the bottom of a ceramic mug (the unglazed bit). Have done this in holiday apartments when all the knives are hopeless, agree nothing worse than a dull knife.

You can sharpen knives by using the back of your leather belt.

If you have bulk stuff, like I've been carrying, make sure you seal it (maybe double) in ziploc bags in checked bags. :)

i L O V E ziploc bags. I use them every trip. I probably have a 100 of them at home in a plastic box, ready for our next trip, and the one after that, etc.
I put anything liquid into one. I put my scarf in one in my handbag. I put make up together in one. You name it and I'll put it in a ziploc bag 😍 😍

Sunglasses. I always think I'll get some in duty free on the way over, then don't get enough shopping time, and spend rest of trip squinting.

Took all the way to page 6 for someone to mention sunglasses.

It sucks getting up in the dark at 0330 for that early morning flight and leaving them behind, only to be hit directly in the face by the glaring sunrise with already tired eyes. Then having to suck it up with no sunnies until you get can yourself a cheapo replacement set.
