I have a special fare ex-SIN that I want to book. I originally saw it on Zuji (but it's now gone missing). I've also seen it on Priceline (SG), but it doesn't like me not being in SIN at the time I'm booking it (requirement for Singapore phone numbers etc).

Any other online booking sites based in Singapore I can try? Acceptance of Amex is preferable...

Mal, i am not sure of any here in Singapore apart from Zuji.

I assume it was not a normal airline fare ? eg Qantas, Cathay etc, you should be able to maybe book it from one of there websites directly ?

Indeed it's a special fare. It's a JAL fare SIN-KUL vv in Dec for ~$SG140 return. Best quote found on other websites (including JAL's) is around $SG250.

Airfares.com.sg has the fare available. I've signed up, but waiting for my confirmation email before I can attempt to book the flight.

Ok, well let me know else tomorrow i may be able to see if i can wander down to the JAL sales agents and see if they have any ideas.
JAL is probably one of the only airlines i know that make it so difficult to book on-line.
Do you know what class it books into ?

In December, your visiting Singapore ? If i am not in Korea, China or Japan (Rest of this years travel) and you want to catch up let me know.

The Jal site itself books into a higher fare (H class I think). I'm not sure what fare class that special books into as none of the sites I've visited show the fare rules properly. All I know is that it's non-changeable/non-refundable, only valid for Dec and seems to earn JAL miles.

At this stage, I'm in SIN from Dec 24 (night) to Dec 26 (night), then again Dec 30 (night) through to Jan 1 (night), so if you're around then we should be able to arrange something.

The fare turned up again on Zuji, so I've booked it there (and they accept Amex).

Did attempt to buy it from airfares.com.sg, but after registering and starting the booking process it appears to involve booking the fare online, filling in lots of details and someone from the travel agency manually processes the booking. Didn't finish the transaction though so can't be 100% sure.

Don't know if this helps but you could try:
Airfares.com.sg - Online Travel Store - Flights / AirTickets / Hotels / Cruises / Packages /

Haven't used them myself and would be interested in feedback from any past users of this site..

cheers

I used them couple to times. The ticketing system is manual, ie someone will email you the itinerary and you pay via credit card/TT etc before they issue you a confirmation. Credit card payments fetch a % fee.

Zuji accepts AMEX and is the online booking system. The rest like Priceline, Chanbrothers.com.sg work manually.

I will be in Sg from 20/12 to 31/12. We can meet up if you will like to.:p

I registered with them a few years ago and have used them for a quote on a number of occassions. Most of the time the airfare quoted is not even close to airfares available by going direclty to airlines websites and they do have a ~3%-3.5% surcharge for Amex. I would love to be able to find a competitive travel agent in Singapore.

We use a group called "Corporate Travel Services" and they get good corporate fares, some decent discount on CX/SQ etc but only Ex-SIN. And i guess you cant just ring up, it would be a company agreement even though we can book personal.

Thanks for the info :) I much prefer automated systems (even if there is still some manual backend work done) as it helps solve most of the timezone, availability and payment issues that often occur when a human has to process the booking.

Perhaps Evan, yourself and myself can arrange a meeting if we're all around at the same time. My Singapore trip isn't really planned yet so have plenty of free time.

Just let me know as you get it planned or closer, i have no idea what country i will be in at that time ! this week i was going to be in Korea but i think not now, i wont get my China visa in time and i needed that the week after next but was going KR -> CN direct. And anything after that i had not planned ! :)
