If only it was that smooth for me 😂 I had been trying the link on my desktop hence the broken link, it only works if you hit it from your phone. Worked out that I could get it from the app store after reading @andye's post but I can confirm if I hit the link from my phone it does take me to the same app (A1 Rewards).

App asks me for mobile number and password. All I have is an activation code from the SMS. I plug the activation code in as password and give my mobile number and I get "invalid username / password". The forgot password link does nothing.
tahts interesting,

im on android, and it worked from my laptop,

seems like we are all having problems at differnet stages

edit: if you click on the link from the phone directly, it skips the password bit, and then goes to enter your activation code,

but then I get asked to choose a password and then it dies!

Yep, it's strange alright. Here's what I get from my laptop:

Would be nice if that Activate Your Card link worked but it is for something totally different of course (it takes some card number and PIN and activates it? Not sure how it relates).

Aha, you solved my problem. I use Chrome as my browser on android, in Chrome it just took me to the play store. Put the link into the built in Android browser and it did exactly as you said, and I also got the 500 error. So now we're all failing at the same point, hallelujah. This is a well-tested process I can see....

Wish I had read this thread before messing about with the app etc, cos I got it to work (somehow) but I don't remember the exact steps.
I managed to exchange a $50 gift card to a mastercard and spend it online with Telstra.
I now have another in the process of being swapped, I want to see how the A1 reward app works when another swap happens, I am assuming another mastercard is generated but I am not sure how the app handles it.
I will report back on this but in the meantime keep trying, it does work eventually.

May or may not help - just some info.
I had a digital mastercard once, tried putting it through my eftpos machine using a manual transaction, wouldn't work. Worked fine online though, so it seems that the bin or whatever makes it not valid at physical terminals . (just in case someone was gonna try)

Maybe A1 Rewards ran out of money after lots of Oz Bargainers tried to convert thousands of $100 gift cards into a huge Mastercard discount. I really don't understand their business model.

The App Store says Acquire One Pty Ltd is the company behind A1 Rewards. ACQUIRE ONE PTY LTD ACN 625305179. That ACN (625305179) seems to have form:-

Hope everyone gets their money.

I received my second swap via SMS this morning and added it into the A1 app relatively easily via the link and activation code. I then used it online to pay a bill (Telstra) so for me it is working.
Debating whether the risk to keep buying and converting is worth it, the gap in time between entering the gift card into the swap form and receiving the mastercard sms is a little worrying. I don't think I will be attempting this in bulk with the way it works.

Seems they just changed the business name to me:

It also seems, surprisingly, that ozbargain have largely passed on this one. Probably for the best.

From what I'm reading this is now good to go?

I'm planning on buying 5 x active ones tomorrow, convert them straight away and then spend them on my strata fees.
