The purpose of this thread is the open and honest recommendations of QUALITY PROFESSIONAL TAXI SERVICES in the various Australian States

If you do or have used such a service and you can post contact details please do so.

Whilst Uber, DiDi and Ola many times provide cheaper alternatives to full blown taxis and they also totally unsuitable on many occasions.

Some grown up require a quality professional service to and fro airports and other locations.

I am fortunate enough here in MEL to have access to a FABULOUS taxi service via Jimmy - Silver Service vehicles at standard taxi rates offering an immaculately clean professional service at totally affordable rates.

Large spacious vehicles with plenty luggage capacity for 2 or more pax.

I have used Jimmy for years and he always arrives early and service cannot he faulted. Jimmy owns 3 cars himself but if he is too busy to accommodate you he simply handballs you to one of his colleagues who will offer identical service at same rates - no SS loading if booked direct.

Dep from MEL easy - SMS Jimmy name, pick-up location, pick-up time, number of pax and luggage items and car will be waiting for you at least 5 mins early.

Arr into MEL also easy - day before SMS Jimmy with your name, flt #, arr time, number of pax and luggage items. On landing SMS Jimmy again and tell him flt landed - after luggage collection SMS again with ‘Walking across now Jimmy’ and head to pre-booked taxi waiting area - Jimmy will reply with car plate # and car will be waiting for you when you arrive.

No need worry about flt delays etc as of Jimmy has your flt # he will monitor progress- just a total professional.

Other AFFers have asked is there similar suggestions for other states - I am sure there are so can any member who regularly uses similar quality reliable taxi operators pkease post contact details and access method in other airports?

I did ask Jimmy if he has contacts in other states - he gave me Amit in SYD;

Now I have never used Amit but I would 100% trust Jimmy’s judgement - Amit offers same SS service in similar quality vehicles and again if booked direct there is no SS loading.

Hopefully someone can test ride in near future and report back

Thanks @Cruiser Elite. I'll certainly give Jimmy a go as our new fatigue management policy at work states that I should be taking a taxi instead of driving on occasion.

My +1 is a FA for QF, and uses s similar provider.

When his flights qualify to use the QF cabcharge, he (and a lot of his colleagues) uses a guy who also owns several Silver Service cabs (Lexus sedans and SUV, Audi Q5, Chrysler 300, new Camry's are some of the cars I've seen pull up to the house). He also gets 1 free trip for every 10 trips booked, so if QF doesn't pay for his transport (only certain trips include transport) he can still get home safely and in comfort.

Booking is via an app, and the cab has always been here early. My +1 booked very last minute a couple of weeks ago when he was on standby and had two hours to get ready and to SYD, and there was a Chrysler 300 Silver Service car here in 20 minutes (we live between Picton and Mittagong or, about 83km from the airport, so that's actually remarkable).

Only once, a 13CABS car arrived, but it was very new and the driver was good.

Happy to provide the referral info via DM.

So it's just a taxi at taxi rates..nothing new. All taxi or uber drivers knows that trips to the airport are the best. So they have schemes like this which are nothing new.

My taxi fare to airport is around $180 each way being a semi-rural area. I can always get a taxi to the airport, but can never get a taxi to the nearest train station which would be $40.

We’ve used the Evoke car service in Sydney several times and have been very happy with the service.

An absolute godsend when you arrive on EK414 at 1030pm with kids and luggage after 20+ hours on the go.

Their fleet is all Teslas so it makes for a very peaceful and quiet trip.

He is very reliable and he also drives a colleague to Orange (apparently pickup at 4am from sydney then drive to Orange, then drives same passenger back to Sydney arriving about 8pm. While in Orange he does paperwork or something to pass the time

I was introduced to a limousine driver in Melbourne who also does airport runs. Our office has been using him for years.
Very reliable, always on time. Drivers will often come in to the terminal and help with luggage.
Cars are well above taxi standard. Luxury level. I highly recommend Wally and his team.

Forever Hire Cars is not a taxi service so you are not going to get taxi prices.
Area covered is Newcastle including airport and Port Stephens. Has been known to drive people from the Hunter region to Sydney Airport.
0413 584 404 Daniel.
Product disclosure: I have known the owner for 40 or so years.

But it's not so simple ; we always use BCT ( Business class transfers ) in Brisvegas.
A high quality operator , 100% reliability for us.
Mostly up market wheels Benz et al with an occasional lipsticked pig ( tarted up delivery van)
I have compared quotes on line with taxi's , there is nothing in it price wise but a lot in it service wise…
IMnsHO.. Ymmv….:)

I have a similar contact in MEL called Maddy (0433 532 937) - very similar story to Jimmy, he owns 2 (maybe 3 now?) cars and if his team are busy then they'll refer it onwards to someone else from the same group.

there's actually a whatsapp group with about 80 silver service members in it and they all refer jobs to each other, i did some texting for one of the drivers once to tee up a pickup for someone else who's flight was delayed :)

I'd tried to use a few cabbies for regular trips before this but they were never reliable enough, my first trip with Maddy was just a regular phone booking, he gave me his business card and as i sat down on my flight i realized i'd lost my USB key, I texted him and he rang me about 2 mins later and said "yep, found it" and then dropped it off at my house during the week for me. needless to say I've been using him ever since.

a few other people in our office now use him, he actually does monthly invoicing for one of the guys so the bill just gets processed by our AP team instead of having to worry about CC reimbursements etc.

good idea for a thread, i generally get rental cars at the other end but it's nice to have a listing on the off chance i don't :)

Yes if we can restrict it to Taxis only please - somebody who uses Limos regularly might like to start a Limos for Grown Ups thread 👍

Just something to consider - depending on where you are going to/from, a 'limo' (usually a VHA/B/C plated car in VIC, HC plated car in NSW) may actually be a better and more cost-effective option.

Limo services are usually fixed price based on trip, and if you are travelling a long distance, or expect traffic to be heavy, the cost of the limo may be very close to, or in some cases cheaper than a taxi. And you get all the benefits like being met in the terminal on arrival and the driver carrying your luggage etc. I also know that the limo services (similar to some of the taxis mentioned in this thread) will move heaven and earth to ensure you have a driver waiting for you on time. If I have a very early flight for work (If I go to SYD for a day trip I'll often catch a 0600 or 0630 flight) and I can go to bed knowing without a doubt there will be a car outside to pick me up 5 minutes before the booked time. I've been burnt by booked Taxi's now showing up - but admittedly booked through one of the big companies not through a smaller owner/driver direct.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Yep. If youre in the burbs of Sydney, you are saving money, stress and attitude by using a "limo" service. The attitude Sydney taxi drivers give you for taking them over the bridge to purburb'gatory with no guaranteed return trip is just not worth it. And I will never, ever, ever, use a shuttle service again - OMG. Never.
