I am about to be staying at IHG properties a bit over the next few months and have joined the program (was able to get plat elite through my work, so why not). One thing that i was hoping some more experienced folks might be able to clarify for me - how many qff will I earn on a domestic stay?

The qantas site says it’s 3ppd, but the ihg site says 5ppd (both in AUD).

Or is it a moot point because I shouldn’t direct stays towards qff anyway and earn ihg points instead?

Ps I’m staying at the HI Parramatta first up - some previous threads from 2016 and earlier have indicated that upgrades from base rooms for plats are pretty frequent. Is that still the case?

I am a $US200 plat member.Upgrades have been quite common.Only have 10 nights,8 stays this year but 3 suite upgrades.Twice when property couldn'y upgrade got extra benefits-brekkie at a CP,$US100 for food and wine at an IC.
I go for points as you can transfer them to airlinepoints/miles.Myself to BA Avios as hard to get otherwise based in Au.
For QF the transfer rate is 10000 IHG points to 2000 QFF points. Now if it were just the basic earn rate of 10 points per $USD it would make sense to go with QFF points but IHG are very liberal with bonus points so definitely worth going for points in my case.
Just do your sums.

I guess the pertinent question is who were the stays booked through?

My stays are booked through the corporate travel agent with GDS access. So I should earn points and get the status benefits.

Re the calcs , I’m finding that for domestic stays earning qff seems to be well in front (and if it is actually 5ppd it will be even better!).

3 qff points per aud appears to come out better than 15 ihg points per us dollar (including the plat bonus). The latter seems to convert to about 2qff points per aud based on my calcs?

15points/usd x 0.68usd/aud x (2000qff/10000 ihg points) = 2.04qff/aud

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Just for posterity, the QFF points from my two stays have posted... at 5 QFF per AUD spent (appears to be excluding GST).
