I'm hopeful to book a QFF redemption tix to Arcata.

When I start the search on qantas.com the dropdown gives me an encouraging symbol which I associate with availability of flights.

After the search I get a fairly clear message.

I also tried a search via *A & Skyscanner. It looks like only United flies into there.

Given the first search give me some hint that at least QF knows about the destination, is there another method I could be using. (In my dreams, I would like to add it onto a BNE-SFO/LAX redemption for no extra points.)

As far as I am aware United are NOT a Qantas partner airline.
According to both the general "Airline Partners" page.
and also according to the "Airline Partners in North America" page.
So if, as you say, and as my own research confirms, United is the only airline which flies there I am not sure how you could book an awards flight there!
I think the real question is why does it show up as a possible destination on the Qantas website at all?
Perhaps American Airlines used to fly there?
I can't find any evidence of that, however it seems (according to Wikipedia) that an Alaskan airline called Penair once flew there.
According to its website, however, Penair now only flies intra-Alaskan routes.
The plot thickens!

I have since discovered that SouthWest also fly there, and Air New Zealand code shares on their flights to and from San Francisco (but not Denver).
Avianca are also listed but it seems an unlikely destination for them so I assume this is a code share as well.

Thanks for the ideas on that one. I'll try Southwest.

Seems like a difficult place to connect.

The California Redwood Coast - Humboldt County Airport is currently served by 1 commercial airline. The airport code is ACV.

United Airlines
United Airlines flies between the California Redwood Coast - Humboldt County Airport and San Francisco International Airport via its United Express subsidiary.

They also fly to Denver and Los Angeles.
Seems the Denver flights areoperated by Skywest.
I assume that is another United subsidiary, and could have been what another website was reporting as SouthWest.
