Current QF special where LAX/SFO to AUS from usd$760r/t

We, oz-based flyers seriously get exploited paying no less than $2k+ return flying ex-AUS.

Sorry I have no links, but these special fares are easily findable on the QF site using worldwise cities.

These fares are partially inclusive;
*Prices are in US dollars and include fuel surcharges of US$220 from the US. Additional insurance and fuel surcharges of up to US$23 per flight will apply to additional Australian/New Zealand domestic flights booked. US and foreign taxes, fees, including September 11th Security Fee, are an additional US$150 to US$200 depending upon itinerary.
... the cheapest fares come out at ~USD810 (~AUD1160)

Your exchange rate seems to be a bit optimistic.

XE.com currently shows it to be .6647, so USD 810 would equate to AUD 1218. Still very cheap when compared with fares ex Australia (which I rarely buy these days).

Much better to get an award ticket (no fuel "taxes" with UA Mileage Plus), then buy a return to Oz in the US or Europe, depending on your requirements. That way you can get two trips for less than the regular Oz price of one.

Hi Arthur,
Can you run that last bit passed me again please. :oops:

Which is great if you aren't lacking in miles!:D

The cheap flights are until 27th November and 1st May until 8th June.

Higher prices apply for other dates.

Also, the sale date has been extended until 3rd Nov ...

My sister lives in Canada and she tried to book flights for my sister living in the US to come to Oz to visit me. But, she could not do it - kept saying "server down"" so she gave up. She did this when the same price promo (US$380 one way from LAX to Oz) a few months ago, and did not get very far. I guess these promos were like the Jetstar promos, one could never get through the website to book or pay - because their server was not designed to cope with high volume of traffic.

I goto www.qantas.com.au and select worldwide cities, then America.

If you proceed this way, it works without any server / volume issues.

Hope this helps.
