What type of shop/store would you like to see at the airport that isn't usually there now

Golf simulator.
Slot car racing.
In fact, just the TK Lounge Istanbul replicated everywhere...

Airside transit hotel (in every airport!).
Coffee themed milkshake place aka Starbucks.
Beechworth Bakery (must have Ned Kelly pie on the menu).
Questacon annex.
Public transport service (train, tram, bus) front and centre, not hidden away somewhere. And not charging triple the usual public transport fare.

1) Shower Suites like in the lounges but only that
2) Dry cleaners with fast turnarounds and/or pressing only service
3) Left Luggage facilities
4) Post Offices.

Having just used Melbourne T3, I would like to suggest the radical option of dining facilities post security other than a Krispy Kreme and the single cafe that is running on a skeleton crew...

Domestically, get rid of all stores except for somewhere to eat and drink and a newsagent/convenience store with prices which somewhat resemble normal (and that is not AUD5.50 for a 600ml bottle of Coke Zero like in the PER T1 arrivals area)...

Crazy talk. Next you'll suggest that planes get to use the airport.

A supermarket near baggage collection.

One that allows you to order online so that they have all your groceries ready for collection when get your bags and then you can go home and make dinner or get kids school lunches ready for the next day.

A hairdresser/barbershop. Would be very helpful when transiting through an airport regularly. I know HKG has one near gate 43 but haven't used it yet.
Barbershop: Basement of JNB international. Used both ends of a PEY round trip to the USA on CX.... (at one time very useful for qualification - still is for AA)
I'd vote for the post office complete with postcards.....

Happy wandering
Fred

I'd like to see a shop that sells toiletries (shampoo, deodorant, etc.) which are all exactly 100ml.

Chemist Warehouse stores usually have a section that sells lots of tiny toiletries.

SIN already has cinemas - well they did I assume still there. One was near entry to Sunflower Garden T2 and other adjacent to Ambassador Hotel T3.
But the problem with it, having endured a long wait there due to an almost 2am departure a couple of times recently with teen kids is that the movies they show are all middle of the road films several years old and the seats are filled with people who may or may not be snoring!

It's one thing to want all these shops but with exorbitant rent I doubt many would survive. Imagine the mark up just to make a profit.

Agree, wholeheartedly.

Perhaps the reason there are so many similar branded stores across the globe is that these stores use airports as another form of advertising. There's likely no way each outlet can make a profit after paying exorbitant rent, and with so few customers/sales. Thus, only retail outlets that can be subsidised can exist.

The nicest airport I've (recently) used is Muscat, Oman. There, retail hardly exists. And, bless their hearts, they have more than enough staff at border entry such that waiting hardly exists. But, it's probably Ben Gurion at Tel Aviv that has the best retail balance.

As for worst? There are so many. Perhaps Gold Coast at Coolangatta is the worst. Not because they are so bad (it is), but because there are enough intelligent minds in Australia that ought have applied a modicum of logic.

I’ve seen (maybe ‘smelled’) a nail bar, was either LHR or BRU. :)

What about a cinema, with a proper big screen & current movies? Especially at airports that’re used as hubs in the middle of long journeys, so wouldn’t work at Sydney but mebbe in Hong Kong or Singapore?
Already in Singapore
