A380 to visit Perth

Qantas has predicted big improvements to its fleet when the A380 is in full service with the plane set to replace its ageing Boeing 747-400s, which came under scrutiny recently when a ruptured oxygen cylinder tore a hole through a plane in mid-flight.

Qantas said yesterday that the A380 would fly into Perth on October 14 for a one-day promotional visit.

Dont believe Perth have gates that can handle A380s, so selling tickets would mean deplaning via stairs - yikes!

Sorry, but is my understanding no members of the general public are able to board the aircraft prior to the 20th. You either need to be media, vip, or a lucky NZ travel agent.

Even though the aircraft is visiting MEL/ADL/BNE/PER most of the transits are about 20 minutes.

Perth: The aircraft will land at approximately 8am and depart at approximately 1pm on Tuesday 14 October.
On board the promotional flights will be Qantas' corporate customers, frequent flyers, local dignitaries and media.

Love to v8Statesman, but I'm only a QP Bronze and my backside will be 'macside for its arrival.

The DSLR is being cleaned tomorrow night, step ladders checked, and memory cards cleared in preparation for its arrival.
