I was under the impression that when classic award seats were cancelled by a customer, the seats did not automatically go back in to the classic pool.

Today I changed the dates for our LAX-BNE flight from Apr 21 to later in the year. Immediately, the two released seats reappeared as available. I can tell because there were none there before I cancelled.

As this is the only date that comes up for me for business class seats LAX-BNE by anything like a direct route (the odd other one is available at greater points via Fiji or NZ), someone playing with dates currently might like to grab them. As I write this they are still there. ;)

They are still there, FlightStats is showing the following:

  • J/9 C/9 D/9 I/0 U/2 Y/9 H/9 V/9 N/9 O/9 G/0 X/9

I think this flight is very lightly loaded and while such abandoned seats generally don't get reborn as award seats, this is one of the cases where they will.

Thanks Serfty. All the days immediately around it, according to EF, have J/C/D at 9. Three days later D is 0. None of course, except the one I released, has U availability.

Get 'em while they are hot if anyone was looking at that period.

I imagine too the seats would be available from LAX to SYD or MEL via BNE.
