Woolworths gift card thread

My kids are so happy that we got them so many earn and learn stickers. I had an attendant just give me the rest of the roll instead of counting. Anyone know how many stickers a school needs to redeem things?

Only 1's finish today. I did manage to get a few, but many stores sold out early unfortunately :(

Hope there's another opportunity for the perfect gift ones and/or Only 1's again before then end of the year.

No issues in the ACT. I went to many stores, and only in one store did I take the last one off the shelf. Also visited Wollongong today and there were many left.

Most important lesson I learnt from the Only 1 Visa promo ...double and triple check that your Rewards card has scanned properly...hearing the scanner go beep is not enough....you need to ask the cashier to confirm this. Bought 5x GC, scanned my WOW Rewards card, heard beep and paid. When I got the receipt, to my horror, noticed my Rewards number had not been captured...store said they can't retrospectively add number - looked like 10K points down the drain but fortunately scanned my receipt and took photo of promo and emailed Wow...,Wow as a one off goodwill gesture retrospectively credited the 10K points...phew!!

Is this better than just using our two Dragon credit cards.
I do enjoy buying 5% off Star Cards using 5% off Woolies Gift Cards when that offer is running at my Woolies Caltex and that’s it.

Do you only spend money at Woolworths owned businesses where you get the 5% discount? If so these card offer less of a discount. If you spend money outside of Woolworths owned businesses then these cards offer a discount greater than just using your credit card to pay.

For me it's a no brainier. I buy as many of these cards as I can when they are available.

Yes and no.
The latest offer was for 2000 WW points=$10=870 QF points per $100 only1 card for a cost of $105.95.
Thus you make $4.05 per $100 only1 AND get your credit card points (1.5 KF/$ using an Edge). You can't buy Giftcards in WW with a discounted eWISH card any more.
However only1s are a bit fiddly to redeem as unless you use $100 in one go, you need to track the balance (and they are not accepted by the Canberra portal)
Whether the $ and points are worth the effort is an individual decision (they are easy enough for me to use on things like health insurance so I do buy them when an offer is on)

I don't know for sure but why would you? Each will still cost you $5.95 unless there's a points offer on and you wouldn't get any cc points.

Yeah I was only talking about when there is a 2000 point bonus. Just asking if it is possible for me to get say 10 of these cards off the rack. Go to a self checkout. Buy the first one for $105.95 and then just keep buying one at a time using split payments and getting a $10 discount until I end up with one with a reasonably large balance and use that one, the $100 on the final one I bought and the last $10 discount I generated to buy more than $105.95 of groceries.

I'm pretty sure some have been doing the inception with these cards. I am not sure how the signature part will work out at self checkout and whether or not you need the attendant to scan after checking the signature. The eftpos ones would have been easier with the pin.
A good way to churn for the 2000 bonus pts for qantas or the $ reward for those who don't have places to spend eftpos/visa cards. Too time consuming for me to bother and I have places to spend the eftpos/visa cards so I did not go this route.

I bought 10 $100 Only1 cards the other day, but i got them on a different woolies card that converts the 2000 points to $10, so here in WA they were only 1000 points per $100 card, so doing it that way i got $10 cash for $11.90 activation fee... So for the Amex credit card points of 300 or so i guess i paid $1.90 for them.... Not sure its great value and why i didn't go overboard with it... Wish we had the 2000 point offer here in WA...

I'm still trying to chase down those $300 worth of Only1 gift cards that I bought and found someone had spent the money... So cooled a bit on the whole game and with the Amex devaluation and with that piss poor new interface of checking balances etc...

think i'm done with the visa1 cards.

pain in the backside to check balances now.
+ thought I'd just misplaced 15x of them..
too many other things to remember/getting old(er) :p

will continue with woolies egift cards at 5% off as they can be stored on the phone..phew!

pre-deval it was worth the time investment.. now not so much imo

same, the last round of woolowrhts only1s promotion basically halved for outside nsw

so unless the promo is changed, im done for only1s

After messing around for a couple of months, finally lodged a complaint with Woolworths and they gave me a local email address to lodge a complaint I guess with the distributor or local rep of the bank behind the Only1 gift cards and got some action, they are sending out 3 new $100 Only1 gift cards to me to replace the 3 I found had already been spent when I opened up the packaging and tried to use them...
