Can someone share a link on that multi payement Bankwest thing that some of you did in the past? I am curious to read about that :D

Applied yesterday for world card. Perfect timing. Current card needs recycling for more bonus points. OS holiday planned in few months (no foreign transaction fees). Last had BW CC in February 2017, so shouldn't be an issue with the exclusion period. Also bank with BW, so can't see them rejecting me. $6K is quite high compared to other CC's but no issues for me personally. I don't like the 44days interest free period though. 55 is far better. But its only for a few months.:)

100% agree regarding allowing old accounts to stay open, but banned from opening anything new.

Wonder if it should be told to the complaints people (ie: ombudsmen, watchdog, new banking regulations).

Very interesting to hear that they still hold a grudge over the multi-payments.
Considering how long it took them to identify the issue last time, I didn't think their systems would be capable of remembering.
I had a credit card and another transaction account with BW before the Qantas transaction account and have retained those and are still using them to this day without any issue. It seems contradictory to let us keep existing accounts but still not let any new accounts be opened 3 years later.

Keep us updated, are you one of many transaction account holders from the past?

I never had the Qantas FF earning bank account, just a mortgage and mortgage offset account, so don't think I will get caught up in that issue. But if they reject my application, they'll be losing all my business. I can hold a grudge too.

I've yet to see any evidence (here or on OZBargain) of an actual rejection for this reason, more that people have been told they will be rejected. Of course its not always clear as to the reasons for a decline!

I'm not ready, yet, to churn this card again. But I'd have no hesitation in applying even though I'm on the 'banned' list.

Yep I tend to agree. I am just lining up my ducks - offloading a recent black card with high limit before having a crack. Probably look to hit go in a couple of weeks.

When I applied for the BW Qantas Platinum card a few years ago (before the recent credit card reforms), they asked me to provide pay slips, copies of ALL my other credit card statements and a few other things so it wasn't so straight forward. They only gave me a very modest 8K limit but back in the days when it was allowed, they kept giving me limit increases and now my limit is more than 3x the initial one :) They then eventually Invited me to upgrade to the World card. This is my "go to card" for foreign currency purchases as it is fee free and I also get some modest Qf points as well.

I fondly remember the good old days (not so long ago) that after a big spending month you'd magically have a nice credit limit increase awaiting your acceptance upon the next login to online banking!

No value on keeping the dragon CC for ATO payments?

No value on keeping the dragon CC for ATO payments?

It is good for that purpose as well, especially with the Amex deval making Amex / RP less useful, however there is another option which is pretty well documented in the ATO thread which I tend to use in conjunction with monthly payments against my ANZ black (with an up to 7.5k monthly 1ppd point earn rate) which would be better than the Dragon's 0.825ppd but which as a result take some time. I am tossing up between either this BW card or the new Citi QF Platinum offer which is 120K bonus points (with a similarly high min spend as this one) over 6 months with 1ppd earn up to 10K a month, with that I could get 1ppd up to 17.5k per month with those two cards which is more than I need personally, especially given I have several months to pay up.

They get to keep my business (for now at least anyway). Card approved.

So after applying on 30 May and getting approved pretty soon after (after emailing them some requested proof of income) the card showed up today. Will churn ANZ now once bonus points show up.

Looooong application process. Applied 7/6 with conditional approval instantly, payslips sent same day.

Got an email on 15/6 asking for a copy of my passport (weird as I have an active transaction account with them) and outstanding mortgage balance (which was on the application). No further contact until an email today saying card ordered, and the account now shows in the app. Good outcome but weird and lengthy approval process.

Just applied and got an instant note (below) before even going through the verification process. Letter mentioned to call them and they said something in the application triggered it. It certainly could not have been income/assets/spending or liabilities unless I stuffed up an extra zero somewhere, but it could have been because I entered that I was an existing customer and entered my PAN even though I don't have an open account.

I did recently close a Bankwest Platinum Zero no fee card I used for O/S spend and did have the Transaction Account that gave all the points, but I don't think I was in the naughty corner with BW like others above have mentioned, but you never know.

They are having a sales rep call me tomorrow. See what happens but I suspect it is recent accounts with them (even though Ts and Cs don't exclude this).

Thanks for applying
We can't offer you a credit card right now.

It took over 2 weeks for my card to be approved. I didn’t need to provide the identification as I have other BW accounts.
Charges not eligible for points or contribute to the minimum spend to get the bonus include “Government Charges”. Does anyone know if this includes things like Council Rates, Car Rego and public transport card topups?

Council rates will prob be a no (they specifically excluded ‘council rates and fees’ a while back), rego I don’t know, I’ve had points on VicRoads rego from other providers but not Bankwest, public transport topups will probably be fine.
