The biggest losers are probably going to be John Hewson and Alex Turnbull. Two large investors in renewables.

Both bit players.
Turnbull (jnr) runs about $50m in his fund and I'd be willing to guess a decent chunk comes from Turnbull snr

So the pollsters need some help it seems.
We were facing the opportunity of paying a lot more taxes under Labor.
47% incremental tax rate in Australia is out of line with major world economies. I am including the 2% Medicare charge in that figure.
It was a worry to listen to the radical ideas of hitting our struggling economy with a lot more taxes.
I called it a cough sandwich and it was. It would have given us a big chance of a lengthy recession.

Glad to see that people saw through Labor’s extreme socialist agenda. Would have tanked the economy and we would have been all poorer even the welfare dependent sections of the community.

Common sense has prevailed. And the surplus remains protected for another 3 years. Let's hope every seat in Canberra can now knuckle down to focus on the Big Issues.

And if every local Member doesn't remove those annoying corflute signs by the end of the week, I am launching a protest.

So I can now dump PlanB into the garbology as it wasn’t required.
I was quite concerned that Labor was going to put a further 10% of businesses out of business.
It is already tough out there especially for retailers with high rents.
Tax accountants must be relieved......I was one up to 1983.
I had dinner with Scott Morrison when he was Treasurer and in over 3 hours he didn’t miss on any hard questions. He is a person who knows his stuff so he should prove to be a safe pair of hands.
Fixing the WA GST share should see WA quietly move out of recession in the next 3 years. It will take time.
I expect Victoria to experience a bit of a financial shock as their State cash flow dries up and they may lurch into tougher times caused by high debt.

Interesting outcome. For economy and jobs the electorate supports the LNP. But on major social (moral) issues they may act independently (marriage equality). Or install Labor governments in some of the more progressive states such as Victoria.

Surplus protected? They have to deliver one first. I’d put a big bet on our national debt being greater at the next election than it is now.

Man what a great night :) I’ve got one hell of hangover, but the sun is shining and Labour is a loser. Life is good!

That company that paid out for a win for labour - looks pretty stupid:p

Hewson - let’s hope the SMH and ABC lose his number. I suppose he’s happy there’s another member of his club...

How sad that Australians have voted for stodge instead of vision. Corporate welfare instead of social justice.

There won't be a budget surplus in this government's term. No need to now, more hand outs to businesses and private schools etc.

The concentration camps on Manus and Narau will be kept open while genuine refugees will literally go mad yet alleged axe murderers will be flown here.

Dutton will be looking to roll ScoMo as soon as he can, probably in the final six months of the parliament.

Amusing to listen to ABC's Insiders with the talking heads saying how Morrison & Co will have to change their policies now they've been elected.

Tanya doesn’t look or sound very bright this morning.... if she becomes the leader that will be another win for the Libs.

Deluded is the word for the ABC and SMH ... only a matter of time before Nine reset that rag.

I really hope that Labor pick a non union person as their new leader. Probably most of the top ten in the party are tarnished from the proposals laid out for the electorate.
Shorten, Bowen, Wong and Plibersek all failed to explain or defend so much of the stupid stuff.
I hope there is a Kim Beazley type to redirect Labor to more middle ground but I haven’t seen that person just yet.
Could it be Marles?
