There’s really no need to insult either side here. Examples of nasty behaviour is found in both parties and their various supporters and hangers on.

I agree.

But to be realistic, it's 2019. Insulting other people has never been easier, especially with the assistance of social media. Sad.

Wasn't hard boiled. She had a fresh pack.
Just threw it at the wrong angle.

Agree it's pretty pathetic.
As is some of the anti-Semitic defacing of posters.
And the usual cough about wripping down each sides posters.

As for Libs policy.. they don't have really much $ firepower.
By altering tax policy (absolutely not a tax hike says Bill) Labor has a lot more $s to throw around.

Personally I think globally, and particularly in Australia, there are going to be some issues in the next 4 years, so winning may very well be a poisoned chalice.

Agreed.

We've now had a violent leftist murder the dog of a Sarah Henderson supporter in Corangamite and some Getup scoundrel dumping faeces outside Tony Abbott's office. Absolutely ridiculous.

Are these people dumb or what? They certainly know how to sway public opinion - against their cause. If I were inclined to such abhorrent acts (and I am most definitely not), I would commit them against those whose causes I most align with (not least align with) , as much more likely to sway opinion towards the victim rather than against the cause.

But it is equally foolish to tar all people with the same brush 99% of "the left" and 99% of "the right" - and 100% of "the centre" :p - generally do not act in a violent manner, and do behave civilly.

Which unions? The doctors, the pharmacists the BCA? They're right wing unions who are happy to continue to suck off the public teat of the taxpayers and will support the Morrison government.

As for the National Farmer's Federation, well the term 'agrarian socialists' is quite apt.

Or do you mean worker's unions who are made up of employees then you're talking about 1.5 million people out of a voting base of 16.4 million people?
Sorry mate the doctor's union isn't right wing any longer. The former President sought preselection for the ALP this election.

Ain’t that the truth. A sad truth. And sadly we get the leaders doing exactly the same. Great role models.

I have been receiving razzing messages about how the Coalition is going to get trashed this month. I have had to deal with some unions over my working life and I have not always been impressed especially when there can be Wharf strike threats in December. I am guessing the best I can hope for is a Senate that can block most of the stupidest ideas from being legislated. To me the Greens seem to think that there is a giant money tree where money can be plucked.
Labor/Greens combo represents dumb and dumber from my perspective.

We mostly get the governments we deserve , to that end it would be nice to be very rich and go live somewhere else while labour trash the place

I’m pleased to say I’ve only got four more nights to listen to election news. I suspect I won’t hear much in the LOTF

I remain surprised that so many folks seem to be about to vote themselves into a range of tax increases.

We are already closing down most of our SMSF and handing it over to an Industry one. Thankfully their returns are acceptable, unlike what will happen come June. Has been in operation since 1995 as well.

That may or may not be, but even if true, there some people who feel that income should be spread more fairly and are willing to pay more to allow this. If it was a choice of more income tax and better public health services (as just an example) or individual tax cuts and no improvement in services, I know what I would choose. YMMV.

Well, most SMSF's are not in the super rich category at all, ours certainly isnt and we will need to supplement it when we sell the house or it will not last us the distance based on a modest average income.

I wasn't really thinking of SMSFs, more just a general statement about paying tax for services. There are a lot of individual cases out there but it was just the concept of whether people would accept higher taxes for better services. I know lot of people would though the ones I know are primarily in the paid workforce.

no, alp = unions

You got that idiot mcmanus, the one who wears all that makeup, calling for death taxes. All that will do is see lots of money go to some tax haven, which no govt can stop. There are dozens of ways.

But sadly for us this is where Shortens policy will get us more than any other policy out there. So as an individual that pretty much determines my vote. I also don’t think higher taxes equates to better services either. Look at the money we put to education and our standards we achieve - our spend is one of the highest out there but the outcomes are some of the weakest. It’s not just about money spent but actually targeting the right issue.
