Google works a treat.

Yeah - I found the terrifying text :-

"Mr Turnbull's plans to privatise Medicare will take us down the road of no return. Time is running out to Save Medicare"

No doubt seats changed hands based on that.

Anyway - so that justifies ScoMo's dishonesty about death taxes? Really??

I cannot see why Labor has such a person as the leader of their party. He is just unpopular.
Trying to sell us a $300 billion raft of tax increases over the next decade would need someone sharper than him to explain them.
All that happened last week was he stumbled on his 2016 policies......3 years on he still cannot explain them so suddenly those policies were deleted from their website.
Our Australian economy does not need tax hikes when many businesses are struggling to meet payrolls each month.
60% of the population pay any net income tax and the rest pay nothing.
he can't even say "Australia". correctly instead austwalia
how can someone who cannot speak the queen English represent our country

I hope the liquidator of the nickel refinery gets somewhere to recover funds reported as “missing”.
I too wonder how this person can buy heaps of tv ads just to see his mug on the tv when he squandered so many peoples money

Spend about $50 million on advertising and you can sway some voters who don’t know what he has been reported as having done. Seems the folks at his golf course estate had the water and power turned off. Seems to be $800 million missing from the nickel refinery to fix the contaminated site. Seems the $50 million donation he promised around 2016 never was paid.
If there was a competition covering low acts it seems we could have a contender.
As for the chap who cannot pronounce Australia I still cannot see how raising an extra $300 billion in taxes is anything other than a cough sandwich for the taxpayers of Australia.

Cool. I am heading OS on the 5th May and was thinking I would miss voting.
Likewise ! We have filled out the form that makes us exempt from voting. Postal votes wouldn’t arrive earlier enough and with work the early polling booths are no good either

No one seems to be bothered by the leader of the Greens offering about $3.75 an hour to have his children looked after.
It is still very hard to figure out who to put last.......
We are away too so we can vote early seeing we leave prior to Election Day.
Having been a scrutineer I don’t see the point of an informal vote. We are lucky that we live in a country where we can vote.

When will postal votes arrive?

I’ve found that clicking on more than just the first ‘find’ on google tends to bring up more information than simply the quick answer. I’m surprised that people seem to know little about scare tactics in campaigns from past elections. Makes me wonder really.

He needs to go on a diet, but the small target strategy seems to be working .
I guess the steady hand strategy is the best alternative to the new age ( or dark age) being promoted by Labour

The women on his ads are quite effective in sending the message. Shame his actions don’t live up to the verbiage.

I had to laugh when I drive to work each day and see the thousands of corflute signs littering the highway. One local representative has her smiling faces, all fifty of them lined up nice and neat - bearing the promise of true and effective representation for her constituents. The other party has decided to go the path of negative publicity, a high risk tactic that intends to force a subliminal aversion to the opposition by posting a large photo of them, with some derogatory remark of how they've failed the public.

You know what that does? It reinforces the first party to voters - 70% of which are probably not too well versed in politics, or otherwise uninterested. They see LABOR LABOR LABOR LABOR and they go to the booths and they vote LABOR. Because that's what was ingrained during the campaign.

I am floored that the local marketing team for the Coalition has not offered anything proactive to the general public - other than "don't vote for THEM".

When you are in Government you’ve already had the chance to demonstrate or otherwise, good leadership so if you start with all the positive announcements for the future then the response may be then why didn’t you do that before?

I long for the day when there is a true bi-partisan approach to governing a nation. When one party actually acknowledges that the other one - whilst still the competition, may have a few decent policies that don't require anything other than implementation.

Does anyone here ever watch Parliament? What a sham. It's an insult to see those valuable hours wasted by the very people we pay more money than most of us ever dream of winning - fighting like the gang of unruly thugs they currently demonstrate. Curb that disgusting behaviour and we would probably see more positive outcomes.

Let's face it....Australia is now a very difficult nation to govern with lots of minority parties vying for handouts to support any initiative.

Probably need another armed conflict for that to happen ..... conflict appears to be the only unifying force in politics.

Interesting story today about a $30K payment 'donation', to a major party and he now has pre selection for a winnable seat. So, buying a $230K job for 30K is a great deal. Jobs for the boys.

I got on the AEC website and filled in all my details to have a pack posted out and at the end it said it shall arrive between may 5 and may 9

Ours came from the local member but the prepaid envelope was addressed to AEC.
Be careful as it may have the AEC on the top, but still go to the local member's/campaigner's party HQ address.

Having been a scrutineer in the past some really make an effort with their informal votes. One I remember well was someone who had very good illustrations beside each candidate-I remember a monkey, dog, donkey and a snake.Slowed up the count as every one had a chuckle.
I have worked as a polling official in the past and there are quite a few who draw a box with a '1' in it next to 'None of the above', or they start the numbering at '2' because no-one deserves a '1'. Oh yes, and the reasonably accurate anatomical diagrams.

Fortunately I will not be disenfranchised as the early voting opens just before I leave. I am surprised they are open 3 weeks before on 29th April. I thought it was two weeks. I will be in the air on my way to SYD as the counting occurs.

Too late now. It’s posted. But if the votes don’t arrive in time it’s all in vain anyway.

If the postal vote paperwork doesn't arrive in time, you are still able to vote in person at an early voting centre. Assuming you haven't left by then, of course.
