I have quite a few AA domestic flights booked for Jun/Jul as part of a trip from Australia.

Today, within minutes of each other, I received three different emails (I have about 5 different bookings) with changes to my flights. Some big changes - it would seem they have cut the JFK-BOS route altogether (they rebooked me JFK-DCA-BOS), at least for the week I'm travelling (I didn't look to closely at other dates - but found it odd that the route has been cut completely).

I certainly won't say no to the extra SCs (I'm booked in first class) but I don't really need them to requalify for WP and I don't really like the idea for spending the best part of the day travelling to what is effectively "just up the road".

I'm guessing they've been working on their summer schedule which explains why the changes all came out at once. I'm just hoping there's follow up changes that re-adds the JFK-BOS flights; surely they are needed for international connections? It would be like QF cancelling SYD-CBR flights.

I have been checking LHR-BOS awards for August.Quite often the availability is LHR-JFK-BOS.
So i checked and July/August there are 5 direct flights a day.But 2 are AE and no F.

I was booked for 5th July. I asked the same Q on FT and they think it is probably due to 4th July holiday. But I couldn't see ANY flights a few days around that date - and it seems odd they would cancel all flights from JFK and none from LGA.

So I looked for award flights and it looks basically they are booked solid from JFK.From 27/6 to 7/7 no JFK-BOS direct flights. On 8/7 1 JFK-BOS flight shows up.
before 5/7 there is one day with no LGA-BOS awards, one day with only 1 flight and 2 days with 2 flights LGA-BOS.
Just wrong time of year.

Do AA fly EWR to BOS?

4th July weekend and thanksgiving are two of the biggest travel weeks of the year.

Yeah I'm not buying it - there are no flights for at least the 4 weeks prior. They do start the following week though (but maybe they haven't got to cancelling them).

I'd fly LGA-BOS before EWR (the main reason of flying out of JFK is to use the flagship lounge - I always fly via LGA and I need to tick JFK off my lounge bucket list - then I have all of the US flagships ticked).

I hope this isn't them preparing for a possible 737 max grounding. I don't think so though, even if they do ground them (which I don't think they will) surely whatever fixes would be done by then.

It's not a matter of being booked, there are no flights period. I have confirmed with AA on twitter and their online schedule.

I have a cash first class booking so I'm not concerned with award availability anyway.

Is flying BOS-LGA an option?

Yes. It’s not what they rebooked me on (strange), but they have offered it when I contacted AA. It’s what I’ll probably do. Although I’m going the other direction - LGA-BOS

LGA is never an option. I'd rather catch the Amtrak from BOS-NYC, in fact I have.

When were you last there? It’s pretty good now and easy to get to from Manhattan.

If you are *O sapphire/emerald then ex JFK on AA to BOS is always the preferred option. :)

Depends if you think the difference between the flagship lounge at JFK and the AC at LGA is worth the commute to JFK.

I mean, as OP, I’m going to do it once, but normally I’m an LGA fan.

LIRR/airtrain for JFK is a little more expensive than subway/bus for LGA but more efficient.

I don't do Uber / Taxis / etc unless there is no other reasonable choice.

Subway to Howards Beach or Jamaica + Airtrain for $7.75 my preferred method to get JFK - so easy.
