Qantas: 'one of the worst airlines in the free world'

I'm not bullied into silence, but it's become all a bit Meh. I think the term is 'bored now'. I thought the thread would've passed on ages ago, but obviously still creates interest and is important for some, so there you go. I look at the posts intermittently. :)
The thread will continue to breathe as long as people say the criteria you use to judge an airline is wrong and CX and SQ is better than Qantas because they been better for them.

I’ve had much better amenities experience in J on Qatar and F in Emirates. The crew on the only F Qantas flight I’ve been on were wonderful, but the amenities not so much. So it’s a matter of what you want really.

And the opposite is just as true.

No it's not.

I don't have to justify why I favour an airline and you have to accept that's my opinion and move on and not try to prove my opinion wrong based on your own experiences.

P.S. Not you specifically.

P.P.S. I've had good and bad flights on most airlines I've flown.

Overall, CX and SQ are better airlines than QF (particularly in J and F). No additional qualifications are necessary...

No no no. In economy SQ is the worst. People should avoid them at all costs. o_O

(and then there might be a greater chance of having an empty seat beside me, usually way too full for my liking :D)

Of course you don't. But if someone in your situation is passing comment (judgement) on someone else's experience perhaps there could be a qualification: 'as a platinum flying with a bulkhead seat, coming from the first class lounge, and with what some would consider an unfair amount of attention from the crew' my experience is [xyz].

That would put comments into perspective (basically unrealistic unless someone has equal status). Your opinion is not wrong, it just can't be compared.

Opinion is interesting but hardly something useful in a formal debate.

The OP related their actual experiences much of which was fine.

That also goes the other way. Not everyone will get to sit in an exit row. Not everyone will sit in aisle or window seat. Not everyone will find the food appealing.

There are so many variables on flights that unless there were overwhelming negatives would be difficult to judge.

As I mentioned in an earlier post some of the things people notice may not matter to me and some of the things I notice may not matter to others.

So isnt actual experience in a way an opinion as well?

CX & SQ service is almost totally robotic IMHO.
people keep saying this, but in my limited experience on SQ I didn’t find it so. I had really nice friendly conversations which didn’t seem any different to what I would have had on Qantas. On one of them, as part of a chat about Langkawi I mentioned we were going there as a 36th anniversary trip and later on she arrived with a constructed card, signed by the crew wishing us a happy anniversary- it was really sweet and not at all robotic.

They certainly work a lot harder than Qantas does at providing excellent service - once again my experience only.

That's the difference. On QF those with status get the spare seats beside them, bulkhead rows, and business class amenity kits, PJs, headphones and wines. On SQ I never feel I'm 'missing out' or treated differently.

You make it sound like this is a standard benefit given to all Platinum or P1 members. i can assure you, in my experience for 5 years now as P1 that when I've been in Y I have not had this. I don't care that I haven't, but you need to be clear that this is not a given or consistent(lol) experience for all QF flyers with a certain level of status.. because it isn't. :)
