In view of the upcoming devaluation I will probably transfer most of my points to SQ. I remember every once in awhile there would be like 10% transfer bonuses. When was the last time this happened?

I need to assess whether to use the 15% bonus to Velocity or transfer to SQ. This card is my only source of SQ whereas VA I get heaps from Flybuys.

I can't see Amex offering a bonus for transfer to SQ either.
If you transferred 100,000 Amex points to Velocity you'd end up with 115,000 points.
If you then converted them to SQ at the ratio of 1.55 you'd have 74,193 SQ points.
A direct transfer before April would give you 100,000 SQ points.
It would seem transfer direct to SQ works best, provided you keep in mid SQ points expire after 3 years.
(Trust I got my calculations right!!)

I believe your calculations are correct. For the time being break even is 55% (if you ever get transfer bonus of higher than 55% then it would be advantageous to transfer to VA and then on to SQ; otherwise transfer direct to SQ if that is the final target).

Assuming this is the Explorer card, shouldn't the 15% bonus be on top of the 75,000 points as the Explorer transfer points on a 4:3 basis?
So 100,000 points would net you 86,250 points and not 115,000 points?

Has there ever been a transfer bonus for Amex -> SQ?
Whilst a lot of us here wish that a transfer bonus would happen, I don't see it occurring. Most people (both in the know and out of the know) have read on many a forum/website to "transfer to KrisFlyer", I don't see AmEx giving away more points via increased SQ deposits.
We can all hope.

Yes, but I only remember the one and that was what 8/9 years (my memory is a little hazy) ago? I moved 1.5 million over for 10% extra and have been awaiting for more ever since. Have not seen any ;(

However one could sometime get Amex to Velocity transfer bonuses that were greater than the % lost to transfer from VA to SQ. But with the VA/SQ transfer rate reduced as of 31 Dec 2018 that little wrinkle of magnifying the Amex/SQ transfer rate will require massive transfer boni to make it worthwhile and so that method has probably permanently vanished too.

In this case all one can do is wait. But I doubt it will happen.

I am also delaying it too as I moved a lot of VA points to SQ in December and so am trying to maximise my shelf life.
