Hi all, thanks to all who gave suggestions on where to go for RTW.
Well all booked and leave on the 24th Sept.!! I have been sent a complimentary invitation to the qantas club for use by end Sept. So looks like have to use in Sydney. Just wondering what you get?? drinks, food?? free?? Also we have a long stop in heathrow for 7 hours on the 3rd Oct 7am to 2pm and was wondering if anyone had a couple of passes for any lounges there?? If not anyway of getting into one. Would be more comfy for 7 hours than normal. Hope someone can help. thanks:cool:

I have no passes, hell im not even a QC member, but the easiest way is fly business or above - as you've already booked i assume thats not an option. The other option is Priority Pass.Airport Lounges | VIP Access Worldwide | Priority Pass All benefits are on the end of that link.

thanks thegurio & yo yo ma for all the info. I'll check out the pass website etc. Good to know no $$$ needed. Oh I only hope we can
use a lounge in Heathrow....cheers to all and if anyone else has a guest pass for heathrow pls let me know

What is your onward flight from Heathrow? Generally you are only able to use the lounge of the airline that you are flying out on (or an associated lounge). So, what airline you are flying out on will affect whether you can get a pass, and whether you can get in at all.

Well problem solved. I have managed to change our flight out of Heathrow to 9.15am instead of 2.15pm Yahhhhhh,,, We fly out of Heathrow on a BA flight to Rome. We arrive Heathrow at 7am so now we won't be needing a lounge because by the time we go through customs etc it will probably be time to get on the next plane!!
Also noticed that the comp pass for sydney lounge is valid till Sept 09  silly me thought it was 08. So will be using it on the way home because we have about 3 hours between flights from Syd to Adelaide.
Hey thanks again to all. And good to know there are so many helpfull ff out there. cheers to all.

If you are departing from LHR to FCO (Rome) you will not be going through customs or immigration in London. All you have to do is pass through security screening and get to the departure terminal.

Note that if you are on QF81 from SYD to ADL then you will be using the Sydney International business class lounge at the international terminal. Any other flight from SYD to ADL will be from the domestic terminal and hence using the domestic Qantas Club lounge. By the time you pass through Australian immigration and customs and catch the transfer b*s from the international terminal to the domestic terminal, you will have eaten into your 3 hours considerably.

When we went last year, we ahd to change terminals. Which whilst we didnt have to go through customs when we changed terminals it took forever and ate into our 5 hours in LHR considerably.

Thanks mn, we arrive terminal 4 in LHR & depart Ter 5. Yes actually was told by qff today that we just follow our bags on the belt and they would go through. Our flight from syd to ade is qf785 departs term 3 so probably right about time left over for lounges. Oh well being that it's around 6pm when we arrive into syd hopefully customs won't be that busy?? :D

I would use the 2 QP passes @ SYD international QP on your originating international departure rather than a most likely SYD domestic QP visit on your final leg before home.

Why? I would be pretty excited at the beginning of the trip and with alot of enthusiasm would enjoy the QP alot more at the start of any journey. Plus the final SYD-ADL leg is a relative quick flight home and it seems a waste (in my view) to use it on the last leg going home when all that is on my mind is to just get home!

I completely agree. Plus you're more likely to get a seat to sit down in the International lounge as Sydney domestic gets very very busy at times ... sometimes its less kaotic out in the general public area.

Thanks guys, We where originally going to use them at the start but I'm not sure if we will have enough time anyway. flight into syd arrives 3.30pm then onto bus to int term then flight leaves at 5pm and with boarding say 15-20 mins before not much time left. I guess we will see how we go time wise and go from there. thanks for the input:)
