I can’t find the “your questions” thread:
Is there a post office at MEL Tullamarine?
Is there a post office at MEL Tullamarine?
To further add to this, I would suggest the one in Gladstone Park. It’s just off the freeway and as close as the Tulla one in distance.Aus Post close the MEL post office some years ago. At the airport now is just the customs processing area and some Aus Post street mail boxes.
The nearest office appears to be Find a Post Office, street posting box, Parcel Locker or Parcel Collect location
I always thought the idea of a post office (or postal facility) at the airport was genius, like the singpost facilities at Changi. When someone comes in with overweight luggage, they have a choice of either paying through the nose to their airline, or boxing up the less important stuff and sending it home/to family/elsewhere.People still use post offices???
Good point. I never would have thought of that.I always thought the idea of a post office (or postal facility) at the airport was genius, like the singpost facilities at Changi. I get the “postie couldn’t be bothered getting in the lift” card in the work letterbox pretty regulalry, when getting stuff sent. Then ... I have to use the post office.People still use post offices???
At the airport itself you have a post box for letter and small parcel drops crammed up on the drop-off level out front of Qantas. Bit of a pain to find.
Inside, in the international terminal the airport has a box airside. It isn’t an official post box but it will get transferred.

Isn’t that what a courier is for?Maybe what we need is an Uber post? Uber meets you and picks up the package, and then based on a delivery class (immediate/soon/off peak) either drops it off immediately or pops it in the boot for when they are waiting on a fare or maybe even end of their shift if it's off peak. The prices could be similar to uberX for immediate or shared pricing for off peak.
I will be checking my mailbox for the cheque should uber make this a thing.
Not being facetious here but no.Isn’t that what a courier is for?

They used to be back when bike couriers were still a thing. Now they are full of apathetic drivers with no interest. Not being facetious here but no.
The whole premise was that there's already a fleet on the road and you'd be able to get someone to pick it up on the spot. Couriers are not nearly that flexible nor are they leveraging any particular economy of scale to make it affordable.
