Looking at using Qantas points to book 2 China Eastern Airline seats MU562 SYD/PVG in 1st class, says available but but aircraft is A330-200 not 777, thought A330 does not have 1st.

Quite some caution is necessary as there is not specific rule about what 1st class is - so what you get may not be what is expected. Certainly in China and US what we consider in Australia to business class (or less) is sold as first class. Two class aircraft in Australia are almost always Business and Economy but in other places that is First and Economy. When flights have segments between 'cultures' it can get messy. But most long haul business into the US would see you in First in US domestic segments.

Hopefully some on can answer specifically on this flight.

What date?
I believe they are replacing the A330’s with their new A350’s on the SYD-PVG route from April. The J suites looks pretty good and there is apparently 4 at the very front that are a larger size and called “Super Premium Suites”. Perhaps they are selling them as F??
Looks fairly nice and will be interesting to get a TR when someone uses them

Yes aware of that but the QF site still shows the A330-00 in August 2019 in F, didn't think they had it on that aircraft. Not sure to book or wait.

There are 4 columns on that QF choice inc. J & F and the available seats are showing F no J.

Yeah just had a quick look at SeatGuru aswell and they have the A330 right up until end of year.
Perhaps the QF site hasn’t caught up yet either.
MU is listing the A359 but apppears to only offer J no F so might be worth a call

Yes that is what I see. On QF its 144K points each though for F.
Would be interesting to see if MU do offer those 4 suites up as F but I’ve trawled through their website and can’t see any option of buying those seats.
I’d definitely be making a call to ch

This piqued my interest so did some playing around on the MU website and it seems you can book first class on the A350. Those 4 super premium or Air lounge seats must be getting sold as first class. Quite a hefty price jump but the product does look ok

Did you see A350 or just supposing they are the Super premium called F?. I don't think this a lot of points if it is.

Definitely on their A350. They were offering F and J so I’m just thinking that it must be those 4 seats as I’ve seen or heard nothing about them having a dedicated F class.
The product whilst not being a Q suite does appear to look ok but can’t vouch for service, meals etc. They are starting the service to FRA at start of February so hopefully a review is not far away.

Seen one review of J no premium J/F yet. Call Q gave up a useless long wait, have texted them about this, hope to get a reply about this, well hope. As Alan says Q are a world class airline, not in ground communication phone calls.

I’m keen to see a review. If those premium business seats are 115k in points I’d have a crack at them

The so called F seats on MU were 228K points and just $193.76 for two. Maybe Q has finally has stopped charging those outrageous award flight fees, probably not.

There is heaps of MU F availability. A friend snagged some the other day, but it is on the 777. So at least we're in the right cabin. We were also checking SYD and one of the flights was listed on QFFF as a 777 (for February). So not sure if that has changed.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Last night gave up on Qantas call, so texted them re showing award F on MU A330, after numerous texts back and forth got nowhere, in end they said call MU!.

When I was playing around on it yesterday all dates that I saw after April 1st were running the A350 and was offering F and J class

So i think there may be some issues with the introduction of the A350 and how this is pulling across in schedules? The flights we booked in February were showing 1x350 and 1x777. Maybe they’re progressively changing these over but haven’t pulled inventory?

Good heads-up though, i’ll be monitoring the flights!

You got the A350 in Feb?
The changeover date seemed to be April 1st for the A350 or am I missing something?
