How to get Chairman's Lounge Membership ?

I don't take any of this as a personal attack, although some people seem a little precious - given the thread is about accessing CL. One of the shortcomings of the web is that people can misunderstand text - I don't stand at checking with my chest puffed out and say ' my father is CL ....'. As I'm sure many of us do - I chat with check in staff to understand the load, seat availability etc etc and try to work a better seat/class of travel.

To try respond to posters - my bookings are in my own ff number but qantas appear to have some sort of family relationship link within their systems that they can go review if needs be.

I tend to fly heavy traffic routes (syd-lhr) and (syd-lax (and through to east coast)) so being plat doesn't tend to make a huge difference with upgrades although does with seat allocation. My seat allocation doesn't tend to be 70G - however you are right - I do run that risk.

My friend isn't looking for the top job at Qantas - but is developing a relationship with some senior QF folks in his efforts to get invited to CL.

NYCGuy - interesting comment you make about getting a seat in Bus/First - surely the 'benefits' of being a FF are eroded if you're already sitting in a fully funded Bus/First seat to start with!
SMH1971,

Welcome to AFF & a good response IMHO.

If you look at the history of this (and a few other threads) there has been a reasonable element of 'chest puffed out' as you put it and this looked to be just another at first glance. Now you have explained, I know that most here will eat humble pie if appropriate and at very least give you the benefit of the doubt.

We welcome your input.

I second the Welcome. I hope you enjoy your stay and come back often. As a WP I am sure you have much to offer as well.

Ive been to the chairmans lounge with a family friend who was getting the same flight. Its nice as its quieter than other lounges due to the "exclusitivity" of it. Its not really anything special that makes it worth trying to get a membership for.

My old company (large multi-national) made a new deal with QF near the end of my employment where travel was on QF wherever possible and other OW carriers. Travel budget would have been in the millions.

The rumour around at that time was that all the GM's got lifetime WP status as part of signing the deal with QF. I found this hard to believe, having never heard of "Lifetime Platinum" before, but am leaning towards believing it now seeing as I have heard a few seperate stories now of people receiving Lifetime WP status but not CL.

I would imagine that the CEO, CFO and Chairman of the company all got CL membership with the QF deal (if they didn't already have it).

A mate at work's father used to be one of the top 5 QFF's at one stage. He was a CL, but when he lost it (i.e. left the job), he was given Lifetime WP.

I'm sure there are a few people out there with Lifetime WP - it's just not as official as LTS/LTG (or something that can merely be earned) :)

Cheers,
- Febs.
