False economy? The headline fare might be cheap, but by the time you add bags and meals and... perhaps importantly... all beverages from water to a cup of tea... I'd be on the Air China for $857 to just about anywhere in Europe.

Also consider transit times (they used to be horrendous, perhaps they have improved their schedule) and Scoot's well publicised delays and cancellations... all indicates a lack of vfm :(

False economy? :(

Yes, many extensive delays noted on the Scoot delays/cancellations AFF thread.

I also don't like having to surreptitiously eat food and (if there isn't a last minute security check) drinks that I've brought on board in my carry-on, though I've never seen the staff enforce it. Nonetheless I look around like a bird before consuming anything to ensure that the staff aren't nearby. I know how those transported to Australia felt when stealing a loaf of bread.

Those used to flying with Scoot bring an empty bottle and fill up with water once past security. However at some airports like MNL this can be taken away from one at the last minute. Having to pay for water - Scoot's not alone in this - is a disgrace.

Agree, false economy for Oz - Europe flights. Better to go with a legacy airline that perhaps costs A$100 - $150 more each way but sometimes less, especially if latter have generous luggage allowances of at least 25 kilograms per traveller.

When i was young and poor, i did a 10 hour flight and chose the lowest fare by $100 and thought a 6 hour stop over in a third world country wasnt a big deal.
The return flight also had a 8hr stop over.

The aircon at the airport was broken, i visited every duty free shop till they got sick of me, i couldnt sleep as i was worried about my luggage being stolen. It was hot and sweaty. It was torture

Never again, i learnt my lesson.

These days i prioritise, lack of stop overs, good departure time (i dont want to do a 6am flight) as it would mean a 3am wakeup

Im happy to forgoe decent food, as it means i can spend the savings on a better holiday :)
