Stayed at ibis BNE Airport last week on the way down to NTL it was Thursday and room was $150. The place was chockers! Had a nice pork belly noodles and a few glasses of red while watching Brisbane Broncos get destroyed by St.George :( Room was fairly typical ibis with a slightly more Novotel style shower.

On the way back albeit at short notice I booked the ibis again at $179 it was Tuesday night and as I went to the counter to check in they offered me an upgrade to the Pullman for an extra $20! Not sure if it had anything to do with being Accor Gold or not or whether they simply need a certain quota of punters to cover staff wages. I did read another thread on here not so long back suggesting the Pullman wasn't very busy and this night was no different. All in all the room was nice and the food and wine was very good in my opinion with a decent outdoor setting.

Having stayed at the previously convenient but expensive Novotel BNE Airport on approx 40 occasions I can only wonder what they will now need to do to attract customers. Realistically they would need to drop their rates by at least $100/night to compete after you factor in a $20 taxi and a return $5 shuttle I don't think it will now stack up against the other 2 newer airport based hotels purely for the convenience factor.

How do AFFers figure this will play out considering all 3 places are owned by the same family company ??

l'm looking to book a Saturday night next July.

Novotel $219
Pullman $229
Ibis $139
Ibis Budget $103

No members rate available on any of them.

Pullman wins on price and convenience, but no doubt the 'extras' are priced accordingly.

@RooFlyer extras are definitely priced accordingly. I stayed there 2 weeks back travelling with wife and 4 of 5 sons. I took the family next door to the ibis for dinner and with discount was $124 so very reasonable. Stopped in the Pullman bar for a couple of nightcaps on the way back and nearly had a coronary when I signed the chit. $60 for 2 x Double Henricks with a splash of tonic :mad::( definitely convenient but just watch the $$$$$$. I can't see how the Novotel can still ask that sort of money when it is very average.
