I wonder why people waste so much time on this. Yes, stupid passenger. But does anyone actually think the passenger has explosives?

We should have better secruity detection (for explosives) rather than relying on a passenger to tell us.

You'd have to wonder who were the greater dills - the person who made the joke, or the staff who let them continue the check in, and board, presumably with checked luggage

One thing that may emerge from this is that Hobart Airport has no Federal Police presence. They were removed some years ago. Local coppers visit occasionally.

Agree, if everything was clear for her to board without explosives detection then all good.

Airport security and private airport security guards are one of the biggest oxymorons around. (Yes ok it takes two words to make an oxymoron)

The US no longer requires positive bag matching for domestic flights. We should invest in the same security here.

That threw me the first time I travelled in the US, those high frequency inter island flights in Hawaii have a lot of flow forwarding for the checked baggage.

True - but the idiot pax should still be turfed off and face the full force of the law for, effectively, making threats.

What, if anything, would a passenger hope to achieve by mentioning that they were carrying explosives on a flight? Especially a 41 year old. Maybe some big issues there.

Someone who really does have a bomb should face the full force, she's been let go and will back in court in February.

So no full force.
