Just wanting to confirm, does this now mean that if you book via QF or CX, you'll receive the same SC/QFF points?

No. It means that on select routes, you can now book a Qantas flight number on Cathay metal. You will receive full SC (as if the flight was QF operated) on these bookings.

Flights booked through CX (i.e. CX flight number) will continue earning reduced rates.

Some routes like ADL-HKG and PER-HKG (in particular) don't earn reduced rates on non-QF codes. With the addition of PER-HKG codeshares QF may well change the earn rates for PER-HKG.

I would be surprised - this would only happen if QF operated there own metal

MH, QR are two examples where QF don’t directly operate their own metal into DOH or KUL, but are strategically located to compete against QF traffic, hence the reduced earn rates

just had a look at some PE bookings Per to HK return on the QF site and despite the CX flight having a QF code there was a zero points and status earn , even when I checked Business , can any one explain why this is given the new arrangement was supposed to award both points and status??

The calculator hasn't been updated yet. They will definitely earn as per the standard earn tables.

thanks for the heads up on that,I will keep an eye out for them to be updated

Yeah, Qantas isn't great at updating the status credit calculator (which is also used for showing the point/SC earn on the booking engine) when new routes/flights are loaded. But you'll definitely earn for those flights.
