Heading off to Sri Lanka for the first time, in mid Feb for two weeks to attend my son's wedding. Planning to go via Singapore so we can do QF J ( as that is the only way MrsK will travel) and have a couple of days there and meet up with my parents coming up from Brisbane, then Air Sri Lanka to Colombo. And repeat the process to get home.

Really looking forward to the trip and a family get together.

At the moment , apart from the usual flights to LIM for family and business reasons, is a secret surprise journey to Madrid and Barcelona in September 2019.

To cut a long story short, I meet my now wife in Madrid in 2009. Although she actually lived in Barcelona at the time. And is Peruvian and living back home. So many things had to align for that day, which was like a bolt out of the blue.... heck! I'm getting emotional

So, to surprise her, I picked the dates we actually met as our 10 year anniversary . Real wedding 10 year is another 3 years away. Yep!! its a long story;).

Still early planning stages, but I know she will love it. Thinking QR from MEL via DOH , then continuing to work in a OW RTW

No dates locked in yet, but plans for next include catching up with my cousin to see their new weekend house in PSP and will bake a road trip into that, fly into LAX I think.

Other plans include KTM, PER (for Aus day hopefully!) and then whatever pops up in a good sale....

There are some awesome trips planned in this thread!

Just booked my flights for 2019 to Brazil. We're starting in Sao Paulo for a wedding and to visit my partner's family, followed by the Amazon at the Anavilhanas lodge which looks awesome!

We're still deciding on the next part of the trip, does anyone have any good suggestions for other cool places to visit in Brazil?

Many great places in Brazil, high on my list Sao Luis and nearby the Lencois De Marahanese NP. Recife also. Rio is a must, but get away from Ipanema and Copacabana. Barrios like Sta. Teresa and Gavea and Lapa. For decadent places, go to Buzios a few hours drive from Rio.

The Pantanal for jaguar-spotting.

Yes, this one from Exodus - The Five Stans of the Silk Road . I like it because unlike many tours of the Stans, there is no domestic flight in the middle. Although the airlines of the region are improving, that's still a bit far for me.

I did Iran with Exodus last year, and it was good; JohnM has done lots of tours with them and is also happy with them. they are an English company, so much of their web info are for Britons, but they have an office in Melbourne.

There will be TR next year :)

That looks amazing

Not a lot actually planned yet, the AKL lunch is looking firm, we have an extended family reunion in Bendigo in March, then off to France for a month in April.

Awesome, thanks for the recommendations! Lencois De Marahanese looks amazing but I'm wondering how long we should spend there. I also want to go to Rio but my partner is worried about the crime there. I'm sure it's fine going as a tourist though.
