I’m flying to Cairo then Casablanca and returning to Sydney all on Etihad flights. I’m a member of both Etihad and Virgin frequent flyer programs. Which points should I get? ie frequent flyer points. Which card will I show at check in for best value?

What fare bucket are your flights and what flight numbers, this info is important to help answer your question

I can't really say what fare type as it was booked through a travel company - most likely the cheapest. I can ask?
EY451 Sydney-Abu Dhabi
EY651 Abu Dhabi to Cairo
EY612 Casablanca to Abu Dhabi
EY454 Abu Dhabi to Sydney
I have so many Velocity points already but probably won't qualify for an upgrade on these fares and since its Etihad, not Virgin. I have no Etihad points and they expire regularly whereas Velocity don't.

The fare class is important. Do ask.

You'll still earn Velocity status credits for Etihad flights (provided it's an eligible fare class).
