(Now to wait for my landline to be ported over so I can cancel my old TPG ADSL account).
Presumably you mean porting it to a VOIP service? I take it that you'll be using ABB's service? I stuck with Mynetfone when we ported over from DSL to FTTN.

You can cancel the ADSL service any time you wish. Once your house is connected to the NBN that service, which is managed by Telstra, is no longer connected.

Once my FTTN service was active, from around lunchtime, by 4pm my Telstra service (and the POTS number) was disconnected. I abandoned the home phone number, didn't bother porting it, as it was rarely used and was there to maintain an ADSL service.

It's amazing how quiet it is now around tea time...

Home telephone numbers, I've heard of these strange things :cool:

I haven't had a home number in nearly 10 years. Figured it was a pretty terrible way of getting hold of me anyway as I was rarely home, and everyone I wanted to talk to would call me on my mobile in the first instance (it was one of the early "capped rates"). Plus of course end of nuisance phone calls was simply a bonus.

Also Admin, I wish I was getting home internet speeds as good as that. We're lucky if we get 10% of those speeds. (edit: and we're one of the few houses with faster than dial up in our area) :(
