Lucky Friday 13th July MEL dinner

It has been a while since I have got to a MEL dinner. Seeing I am now living a bit closer I thought I had better do something about it.

Now you might not want to get out and about on Friday the 13th, but if you are game, I am too.

You never know, maybe a @blackcat20 will cross our paths.

I am staying at the DT, so maybe somewhere in Degraves St?

Just to keep you amused, here is some Friday 13th trivia:

Paraskevi-dekatria-phobia or the fear of Friday the 13th
Like all phobias the symptoms can range from minor anxiety to not daring to leave the house, or even staying in bed all day.

The bad reputation of Friday 13th is not universal: in Spanish speaking countries and in Greece people fear Tuesday 13th and in Italy it is Friday 17th. Alitalia, the Italian airline, does not take any risks: there are no seat rows 13 and 17 on their planes. Superstition is not a sign of good management: Alitalia has recently filed for bankruptcy.

The Stress Management Center and Phobia Institute in Asheville, North Carolina, has estimated that about 20 million people in the United States are affected by a this fear. "It has been estimated that US$800 or $900 million is lost in business on this day."

Is there really something to worry about on Friday 13th?
A study published in 1993 in the British Medical Journal shows that “in the UK there is a significant increase of traffic accident related incidences on Friday 13th compared to other Fridays”. In the Netherlands a 2008 report from the Insurance Council stated that there are on average 7800 accidents reported on a Friday, but only 7500 on a Friday the 13th. Maybe those who are severely affected by paraskevi-dekatria-phobia should move to the Netherlands.

Calendar facts
Every year has at least one Friday 13th and no more than three. Every now and then two consecutive months have a Friday 13th. This can only happen in February and March of a non-leap year starting on a Thursday. The longest stretch between Fridays 13th is 14 months. This is coming up: after the occurrence in July 2018 we can relax, as the next time will not be till September 2019.
