New Amex statement credits

I've not purchased from Amazon.com.au either and am unlikely to do so given the limited range they have and uncompetitive prices. I'll buy from Amazon.com and collect items whilst in the US.

You might need to use a VPN if you intend making the purchases whilst in Australia since Amazon have said they will automatically redirect customers from Australia to the .com.au site.

How does this work in regards to bringing them into Australia when you return? I assume you would need to declare if over $900 worth but in practice does immigration even know unless you tell them?
How would they know unless you were searched? In my opinion they don't need to know.

Just remeber the value of goods falls dramatically if it's second hand or opened.

So. Hypothetically if you had a brand new iPhone. And opened it and brought it back with packaging separate. The value would drop noticeably.

Obviously common sense would prevail. Or should prevail

Well yes of course, but isn’t that the risk you take in not being open about it?

I really don’t know so it was a genuine question. What are the actual chances of them discovering in reality? Surely there are occasional random searches of baggage?

Just found a YOOX offer on one of my cards - spend $US250 for AU$60 credit.

I had never heard of YOOX but apparently they are an online fashion store.

I don't think that is what they announced. Just that you can't ship any item to Australia.

And even if it was geo blocked I'd use a VPN or order the moment I arrived in the US. Given how quick they post that wouldn't be an issue.

Never had a problem. I unbox everything and cut oft the labels. I'm more than happy to argue with customs.

Offers getting stranger and stranger. Here is the latest;

Xbox - get 20% credit up to $50 back. Save the offer to your Card and spend online at www.microsoft.com/en-au or via your Xbox console by 17/07/2018 to receive 20% credit each time, up to a maximum of $50 back.

Had this happen to me for the first time: Redeemed the last QF offer on the 28th (last day of the offer) and received the redemption email almost instantly. Statement date however is May 1st, no credit received and offer now shows as expired in the app. Is this just a matter of ringing Amex and get a manual credit?

Ended up calling Amex who confirmed the issue. Manual credit showed up 3 days later.

I just spent $80 at Newslink outlet at Melbourne Airport to redeem that offer, but didn't get any auto confirmation which I must say is a first.

Same thing for me yesterday at Harvey Norman - no confirmation email. never had that before. Amex must have the weekend off celebrating with Queenie.

I am thinking the lack of confirmation emails is a system wide problem. Five purchases on 5 different Amex cards of the DJ Vivid offer in the last few days - no emails received, 3 credits already posted.

For something completely different,
Just got off phone with Amex agent who confirmed that they are looking to introduce annual spend bonii instead of sign on -
Apparently all the existing customers were complaining that loyalty meant nothing.
Be interesting to see what transpires :_)
