Inevitable. And I cannot see much future light for them.
 
Question is whether the loss is from core operations, or writedowns of investments.. the latter will be a big negative without doubt

I would have thought core operations would have been the concern this year. What are the investment write downs? You’re not thinking of Etihad are you? IIRC , QR own part of IAG, but that’s not something they would have written down.

They can’t fly to Egypt SArabia, UAE, Bahrain.
The inability to overfly these countries also results in longer flight times - fuel and crew.

Agree it wouldn't be the whole story, similar to the other ME carriers aggressive nature resulting in operating losses, but the blockade would certainly add a fair bit more pain to the bottom line with the increased costs as you've pointed out.
