You have heard wrong.

BA regularly has a promotion for paid fares where you pay for a return Business Class fare and travel one direction in First Class. But no such thing for frequent flyer redemption tickets.

That promo's actually on at the moment, I think it's ending today, or it could be later this week...good deal.

Pax can choose fares based on:
- Economy one way, Y+ the other
- Y+ one way, Club World the other
- Club World one way, First Class the other

I may have misread the heading of this topic .... I do not think airlines can descriminate whether you have one or two legs. Passengers occupying seats maximum two legs.

No doubt, a LCC may come up with a surcharge for passengers travelling chosing to travel with 1, 2 pr maybe more legs.

Did this in 2005 SYD-LHR-SYD. Club out then WT+ on the return. Good value and my first long haul J trip. Was blown away by the difference in J to Y after many years on LONE4's backpacking.

Is a dangerous step though as it starts the J only or I'm not going mindset!

Yes indeed, it's never easy going back.

I always say the longest walk isn't to the gallows, its walking past the J seats knowing your bums not going to be resting in one!

I always mix then up (Y and J) so when i do get to sit in J i really do appreciate it :)
Oh how much i hate whY but can not always afford to do it in J. (Or when work is flying me whY)

Thats one reason I like the QF 744's over say the AA 777 - you don't have to wlak through F to get to your J seat ;)

Yes indeed....even a J seat starts to look small and tight once you've stared at an F seat for too long!
