We will be in Croatia in May too. Doing a 7 night local cruise. We’ve been to Dubrovnik before and from memory the smaller shops want their own currency and there are ATMs around. Some of the larger ones will take credit card and Euros. Not sure about USD though. Dubrovnik is very safe. We made a booking through booking.com and got an apartment with full facilities for around 140 Euros. Pleased with that. If planning on climbing the wall, do it very early, or late in the day and check the Port schedule to see if there are any cruise ships in port that day. It’s a fabulous place. Very unique.I am heading to Croatia in May. I arrive in Dubrovnik for several nights. Do I need to take currency? What debit card is the best to travel with? Any recommendations for accommodation in Dubrovnik? Is it safe walking around at night?
We are looking forward to seeing all the other small ports on our trip.I guess it depends on your priorities but we have stayed at Gruz & Lapad- many others only consider the Old Town but we found the walk ok or bused it when we went to the Old Town-shopping in the Old Town wasn't an attraction to us. Private rentals are plentiful. We didn't encounter any safety problems. Others will think differently but I am glad we spent much more time on the islands & up north as I wasn't a great fan of Dubrovnik

We will arrive on 25 May. I’m thinking temperatures in the mid twenties? We board in Dubrovnik and each night Port in one of the local areas until we work our way up to Split. Small vessel of 30 people.Where are you looking to head Pushka? I'll be there a bit later in August this year and we head over to the islands where it is a bit cooler.
