Noticed over the weekend, if you have selected an Economy X seat you can now "Manage Seating" if required via the website.

Not too sure when this changed, but very useful if there has been an aircraft change as it will save having to phone up.

One small step forward ......

When have you NOT been able to manage YX seating from the website?

I have had no issues with bookings made direct or through Expedia and Amex Travel either...

Always ... Maybe cause I'm plat and it was a free upgrade. Always had to phone up to move seating (which was rare).

FYI, this was an issue if you wanted to change your seating, normally in the event of an aircraft swap (A330 to B737 or B737 to F100 etc) and you didn't like the selected seating.

I am also WP, always preselect YX seating and the only booking I can ever recall having an issue with was my last free Amex flight (paid Amex flights no issue changing seats etc at anytime).

The change which BagPuss is referring to was the travel extras selection.

VA Platinum were able to select a seat in the Economy X zone for free (or others could pay) but as Economy X is classed as a "travel extra" once you'd selected it you weren't able to make any additional changes to the flight or seat online as Virgin didn't permit changes after a travel extra had been purchased (even if it was free).

A month or so ago they fixed that and Economy X seating no longer triggers the travel extra lockout that it used to so changes to seats or the booking are now possible online.
