Now that hubby has retired... I never have the house to myself.

Im going to have to pretend to go to work and book a day room at the Novatel to get alone time.
We have opposite ends of the house :). We have breakfast together and then he spends the morning in his rumpus room, which he has turned into a photographic studio/games room/computers. He stays down there until lunch time, we have lunch together and then he retreats again until dog walking time. I really don’t see him at all, unless I need him for something (e.g. emergencies like taking a spider outside).

Thats why we've fallen in love with a particular house design, he basically gets an entire 3 bedroom house plus balcony to himself for all his stuff and hobbies.

We have the $ but not the back bone right now to put ourselves through a build but hopefully in the next 2-3yrs we will finally put pen to paper. But who knows where we will be emotionally in 3yrs, maybe a retirement village with aqua aerobics :)

Or maybe he might have brought an iPhone home in the meantime. :)

That term sounds familiar. I think he may be. Yes. I’ve checked and he is. He has worked there several times before so perhaps this time they are using a different location. I know he participated in one in Auckland. Quite confronting to start with.

That makes sense as to why he had to wait. There are very formal tikanga (protocols) for entry on to a marae and you need to be welcomed - including with the powhiri with the karanga - this is the exchange of calls done by the female elder. It greets people, honours the ancestors and details why the visit is happening.

Pretty special occasion to be part of.

I am glad we built the house 18 years go - no way I would have the energy to do it now. We need to downsize, but I really like that we have enough space to create our own areas, so probably won’t do it in the short term.

We have always worked together (and from home), so retirement was no different - we had already worked out our coexistence strategies :)

Never going to happen. He practically jumped with joy when niece recently escaped the Apple cult.
I’ve tried android phones and have an android tablet. My son loves android esp the latest Samsung. I dislike the iTunes interface but have purchased a number of apps I don’t want to repurchase. Music. Etc. I’m just not a great fan of android interface though. But would love the cut the handcuffs.

We are on an 18 month project to sell our large home. Rang the builder yesterday to start the Reno process. Our house is old Tudor with many original fittings. Original timber floors. Chandeliers. Cupola ceilings. Leadwork windows and built in the 1920’s. I think we will be spending around $50k on renovs, some of which must be done (guttering and cracks) and painting. It’s in an area with the feeder zone for SA’s best public and high schools. I’m trusting some developer won’t come in and knock down but that’s a reality too after spending all the money. But I also think it works for a large family. Out plan is to have all the work done, things that bug me now, in 6 months time or so, then enjoy it for maybe a year and then sell.

We have a 2 bed apartment in Port Adelaide with a balcony over the river plus a shack on the big river down south so MrP can indulge his gardening habits down there. But I’m thinking I’ll need to rent a one bedder in the same complex so I can move all MrP’s stuff in there because even when he retires he won’t.

Passport arrived today, and took two weeks and a day. There is now a small BW photo as well as the original colour mug shot.
