I suspect I'm not the only one confused by the QF site but for the life of me I can't figure out what's going on here.
I'm trying to book a classic award MEL-DOH-LHR (or MAN) for March next year in Business.
If I search for that routing I get not much around the dates I'm looking.
If I search ADL-DOH-LHR I get results
If I search BNE-DOH-LHR I get results
Now, the ADL search gives me ADL-PER-DOH-LHR or ADL-DOH-LHR
The BNE search gives me BNE-PER-DOH-LHR or BNE-SYD-DOH-LHR and even BNE-ADL-DOH-LHR
Given the wide availability of classic biz awards at any time for MEL-ADL or MEL-SYD why does my MEL search not give me the same option(s) as the BNE or ADL search, that is, to connect via a domestic sector first? It's nothing to do with connection timings as searching MEL-SYD returns classic awards on almost all flights all day.
Is this a married segment issue? If I do a multi search then I can do MEL-ADL-DOH-LHR but I am then tacking on the extra 16,000 QF points for the domestic leg as it's a separate flight.
Is there a trick to this?
