Looked into it a little more and realised that the bonus points offer is valid for applications up until October 31st. With some work related bills due in December and January respectively (each over the minimum monthly spend), I'll be able to make this work now if I apply next month. Happy days!

Yeah that one grinds my gears. How the hell are you going to know if you've hit your spend until the statement arrives?

If I've missed the first month because of some nonsense, I'll be cancelling and asking for a fee refund.

First statement arrived for me today... 2905 points, no bonus points. ARE YOU KIDDING?
I had the spend covered by a few hundred dollars but they've somehow found a way to classify some as ineligible. Grrrr. No way to tell which based on the statement.

Will initiate contact but threaten the ombudsman if it gets sticky (got a feeling it might).

There's a long list of ineligible transactions with this credit card for them to catch you out on. Government spend, rates etc do not count towards the minimum spend.

Guess I'll wait and see what mine says. Have a feeling I'll be stooged as my electricity retailer is government owned.

I made especially sure not to include such spend in my calculations. None of my spend was BPAY or business related and as I said, I've excluded government related spend. When I look at my statement, I'm struggling to find things they could logically exclude according to the terms and conditions. Perhaps the Zoo is counted as semi-government? That's seems to be clutching at straws though and is certainly contestable. Watch out everyone!

<quote>Any way to manufacture $3k worth of spending?</quote>

Put your electricity with Powershop (cheap) and prepay it.

cheers Peter

I struggle to imagine that FOS are going to be ok with the very unclear list of non-earners. Good luck though!

Argh shame... I creatively spent about $1510 on this card in the billing cycle, failing to consider that my 900 or so on car rego wouldn't count! I'll have to recover and do better this next month!

Would it still be considered government spend if you route it through Paypal?

Yes, still considered government spend if routed through PayPal.

I had an example on my statement of a payment to Australia Post via PayPal and it definitely did not receive any points (Australia Post coming under their very broad and undefined category of 'semi-government' agencies).

Got the points in the first month. Had an electricity bill from Aurora (retail arm of govt energy provider) in Tas which was my concern, but looks like it's classified as ok. Go figure.

Anyone confirm Westfield XS Cards qualify for point spend as part of the $3k? I cant see why they wouldnt, but I dont want to find out the hard way as I've still got 10 days to beef up the first statement if need be.

So how does the points progress work? Does it start from when the card is activated or calender month? Seems difficult to track.

once you can log into your online account it should hopefully show you a last statement date. Mine was for some reason showing 12/07/17 even though I didn't get approved for the card till the 11/08/2017

getting the card has made me bring forward some house repairs as the usual way i will prepay certain bills is not an option on this card. be very carefull with the large amount of excluded spend.

Funny, I was approved on 11/08/17 also and last statement was showing the 12/7/17.

Had hoped I'd get the end of month cycle. I'd had the card before and all my previous login details were restored.

Had a little scare when I went to the website directly rather than through the link and saw that it's a different offer (80,000 over 5 months with same min spend per month)!

So the start / end dates for each month's minimum spend is from the date of card approval reading the comments. How long are people taking to receive approval and then how long after approval are people receiving their cards in the mail?

Just trying to get the application timing right (need to have some of January included in order to meet each months min spend).

Once I have this card I will meet the monthly spend early each month so it should take about two months and seven days.
