So I started reading this thread a few months ago and decided pretty quickly that Suites and/or SQ F was something I had to try. Have just finalised a one way award booking JFK-SYD with stopover in SIN all in Suites for late August next year. SIN-SYD on SQ221 so crossing fingers for the new Suites.

Ok excitement off. :D

That's a pretty good score!! If you want to go one step up would could try, 14 days before departure, to get on the LH401 which departs JFK about 5 hours before SQ. This would take you as far as FRA where you could enjoy the LH First class lounge for the transit before picking up the continuing SQ service to SIN and SYD.

I recently read this entire thread as well, I plan to book 2 x Suites at the end of the month/early October :D

Tempting as well for sure. Will give some consideration to it over the next 11 months. It would probably come down to whether I'm happy to effectively lose a day in NYC.

for sure its a 4pm deparutre rather than 8pm, but it does maintain the excitement (instead of three suites in a row), also gives you a taste of a different product (arguably the best in the world on LH), and also access to one of the best lounges in the world.

Good idea. It also means that after check out you can go straight to JFK. If I'd known about that idea, I would not do CX JFK-HKG-SYD yet again.

It's only a one way. Am going QF F on the way over. Will that matter?
AFAIK the rules are the same for both SQ and partner awards. There's no free stopover on one way SQ saver awards, but you can buy them for $100 each. The same rule applies for partner awards... so if you've already paid the $100 it should transfer across.

Gday

Got back from my debut trip in First/Suites on SQ last week. A great experience. Not going to do a big review as it has all been said before. A few observations below. I went to Japan on SQ and back on TG in F so had a good back to back comparison.

- Both the A380 and 777-300ER in R/F are excellent both hard and soft product. People get hung up on what seat they are on but i dont think there are any bad seats up front in these planes.
- Contrary to what some people say i like The Private Room. I like the fact that it was more empty than the first class lounge. Service was excellent. The only complaints I had were the wifi was cough and kept dropping out and i found it odd there were no toilets in the shower rooms.

The comparison with TG was good as i flew their A380 and 747. The hard product on the A380 was up to scratch v SQ but the service was a level below. The only area the TG exceeded SQ was the bathroom on the A380. Very spacious indeed. The TG 747 was like stepping into a time machine.I looked up the plane i flew and it entered service in 1994 and i was surprised it was that new! Having said that it was my first ever trip on a 747 so tick that off the bucket list.

Have already got a SQ R/F trip to ZRH booked for next year but unless the Socceroos can pull off a miracle that will go back into the inventory!

Pele.

I never knew this is possible. Is this only possible with a star alliance redemptions, or can this be done with redemptions directly made through singapore air?

Well done on securing an R/F seat to ZRH. I found it hard to get either J or F seats to/from ZRH. But i am not too confident about the Socceroos making it to Russia 2018.

Not sure if I understand you correctly... but it is a star alliance award, so you'd need to phone SQ to book it.

Ok, I didn't know this was a star alliance award...I thought it was a normal singapore air redemption booked online. That makes sense I guess what you say.

Singapore airlines is a member of star alliance, as is Lufthansa. The SQ tool will only show you SQ flights (and MI). Anything else you need to call. Lufthansa only releases F award inventory to its partners 14 days out, but that usually means pretty good availability. So if you can snag the SQ sectors in advance, you can change over to LH if it comes up on a particular route.

Right, I see now. Didn't know that was possible. Thanks

Just a thought as I couldn't find it anywhere i search, is it possible to book 4 award seats in first for the same flight on saver award seats?

Has anyone been successful?
