Just thought I'd create a thread for this - looking back over the last year, I thought I'd done a thread here as well as on Priority Club.

Just had a 2 x Room stay for 2 nights - Hilton Melbourne South Wharf.

Booked 2 x standard rooms and both upgraded to Executive floors with full lounge access for all 4 guests and free Full buffet breakfast. Just me as a Diamond.

Outstanding really! Shame that's the end of that one.

Coffee fee added of course.

Contemplating staying here with our 10yo on an upcoming trip. How big are the twin beds? Double beds? Or Queens?

I am pretty sure the beds in the twin suite were doubles.

Mrs 2tall4Y (5'11'') and I (6'11'') are tall, slight-to-normal build, and didn't have any trouble sharing one of the beds.

Yes, they are indeed doubles.

I've mixed feelings about this property. Firstly it's damn hard to find if you use public transport as it's hidden behind a shopping complex. Walking around in the dead of night, thankfully we found a security guard doing his rounds.
All the face to face staff are superb. Friendly, helpful, always greet you. Housekeeping leaves something to be desired. They won't give you an extra towel, one day they didn't replace the empty tissue box. When they did provide tissues, the box wasn't changed just some tissues put in. What did it for us though, is that Gold and Diamond guests can use the Doubletree pool/gym/jacuzzi/steam room/sauna at no charge.

I am currently enjoying a stay at the Hilton London Bankside. It is a great Hilton as far as I am concerned and might be of interest to Hilton aficionados. Posts #62 and #63 in this thread refer. Hope this is not a breach of the rules. http://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/trip-reports-and-trip-photos/100-days-82302.html
Not a breach at all. Here is a link to post 62 of your TR: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....trip-photos/100-days-82302-2.html#post1668949 (click on the post number and then copy that url from the address bar)

After writing a lengthy review on the Hilton Munich the app won't let me post it.
So I'll just say I received a nice upgrade and the hotel is great.

Which one as there are two? Or at least were when I was there a couple of years ago.

Next time it happens go out of the thread, click Save, log out and log in again. Then go back to the thread and post it. Another option is to write it in Notes first.

For nostalgic reasons I'm posting this as a final farewell to HSW.
Booked: King Guestroom
Received: 2 bedroom suite on highest floor x 2 nights
Special spread of cold rolls, oyster and soup delivered with bottles of Moët to the AFF table at the lounge last night. No change to breakfast spread this morning nor staff uniforms etc. I cheekily decided to order coffee as I wanted to test how that would work out between room charge going to Hilton and coffee this morning to Pan Pacific. Was informed of the coffee tax as usual but when I checked out, it didn't register. Had a good chat with Craig and his APAC boss this morning. As per what the others have reported, they are very keen to retain our business and would be looking at matching status for regular guests but details on exec lounge access is not clear. My suspicion is it would be similar to how HH treats Gold, ie access to lounge if you are upgraded to exec rooms which in the case of this hotel it would be the suites and above. Farewell HSW!!

Booked: One bedroom Oceanview Pool Villa (One night free Macq Hilton Certificate and 6 nights on Points)
Received: One Bedroom Oceanview Retreat Pool Villa

While the rooms are largely the same I was happy to receive a pre upgrade a few weeks prior to arrival and the room we received perfectly fit my requested room preference.

Diamond recognition on arrival was nice along with the offer of extra Shanghai Tang and tara Smith amenities on arrival, and a lucky dip which my wife won a spa product to take home. Welcome amenity was a fruit platter and macarons in the room with 4 free drink vouchers.

The best thing so far has been the 'Anniversary Set Up' provided which is pictured below. This was set up in our room while we were at dinner, with a complimentary bottle of chilean Sav Blanc white and some desserts, and the bath had been run with bubble bath. really great first impression and my wife was suitably surprised.

Marco the Ops Manager introduced himself to us at breakfast and gave us his card in case we needed anything.

So far you can really tell the influence of the GM Lyle Lewis as this feels very similar to the style of welcome we received at Rangali when he was there.

It was just a one-night stay. The Hilton Suite was in Andaman Wing B with some very nice sea view. The suite has not been refurbished but the condition was pretty good and the furnishing was nice. Lounge was quite a far hike away. The main lobby at Andaman Lobby was closed for refurbishment I assume, and a temporary lobby was set up at Saitong Wing Building E. The temp lobby was rather messy and recognition on arrival was rather weird with the FDC pointing at me saying "you're a member huh" as I was checking in at the normal counter, then stepping away as if he cannot serve me. I then had to wait til another member of the staff to be completed of the check-in process. There wasn't much recognition other than that such as upgrades etc. The lounge was nice though, particularly the staff were very helpful. The location was pretty good too, just a short drive away from Patong, and the grounds were pretty well maintained, but probably won't return given there are better options out there.

Hotel was pretty empty but didn't bother quibbling for a suite upgrade for essentially a 14 hour stay. Left before breakfast so can't comment on that. Had a brief stay in the lounge which was good (drinks and cold canapés), but warm food was the usual average spring rolls type stuff. Service good as always. Received two texts before arrival but just generic welcomes.

bizarrely I checked in bang on 3pm and was given room key, went up to room and it had only just started being serviced from the previous guest. The maid was quite flustered. I deposited bags and went to lounge but heard her making a call to front desk. Not sure why but ended up being given new keys in the lounge about 25 minutes later.

Two bottles of water in room but no other gifts or welcome note.

No-one at the desk or concierge when I checked out at 4.30am. I anticipated this and had (for the first time in a while) completed the express checkout. There was someone smoking outside who may have been staff but who knows. I hailed my own cab anyway.

Other than having a reasonable lounge, this feels like a US Hilton to me.

Water at checkin as well as a couple in the room. Little jar of honey and some sweet bites. Soy in the fridge. Drinks and snack vouchers.

I went to order an omelette at breakfast but was told that would cost extra. I didn't push it but queried it at check-out - cooked to order eggs should have been included, so worth pursuing if you are knocked back.

Queen suite has now been recorded as my 'preferred room'. No coffee tax.
