QANTAS to launch their own credit card in tie-up with Citibank

It seems that Qantas always wants to expand their buisness, but credit cards are just more ways for them to make you spend more with them and get all of these useless rewards or whatever.

"useless rewards or whatever' aside (that's subjective) you've described how most businesses strive to work - to boost their income and customer base. I don't see why QF is or should be any different in these terms.

And as a customer you have the choice to spend as you wish - in this case via another airline and/or CC product.

Just sayin'

I seem to recall that sneaky said a lot more than this. Maybe sneaky has gone the way of the other 2 x missing posts that were in the (now) missing thread. :p

Has anyone received their first statement yet? Surely mine must be coming soon (I was approved on the 8th of June) and I'm, in particular, keen to see if the bonus points will come with the first batch of points (as was the case with my Amex QF Ultimate and NAB platinum cards).

I wish I received my card. I was approved a week to this day and it still hasn't arrived. And I don't exactly live in the middle of Whoop Whoop.

Alright, I'll admit... I'm impatient and I have expenses coming up that I'd like to use the card on... $3000 in 90 days is one of the more steeper spend targets out there, and of course 7-10 of those days is already wiped out because you can't make a single expense within that period.

I was approved a few days earlier and nothing for me either yet. I was going to ask the other day if anyone had seen any bonus points yet. Guess not.

Has anyone been able to link Qantas Money with personal financial software like Mint, Banktivity, Quicken?

I applied for this card on Monday, they called my mobile but I missed the call, the voice mail left was quiet weird, the person whose name was "Anthony" was obvious from an overseas service desk.. I could barely understand them because of the poor line connection. They said to call back on 1300 and then the call ended without them finishing the number, it seems they were looking for the number to quote..

Anyway I googled the number and called them, and got shipped off to the same offshore help desk. This time it was even worse, the connection was terrible, I think in the end I agreed to have them call my employer to check on my employment, but who knows..

I have got credit cards in the past, and most of the time, I am pretty sure they are at least based in Australia, but to ship off to the call center which sounded like it was connected with 100 year old copper lines doesn't give a good impressions on Qantas, especially since they are trying to move into the premium Credit card market

Anyway rant over, lets see where it goes...

Westpac/St George oddly do the same for new applications. Seems like a bad way to start with a new customer (and yes, they're totally useless). That said, their local staff aren't exactly very good either.

Funny observation in the QF Money app

Spend is classified with little icons (as I am sure you all know) - Groceries, Bills etc... well I was must amused to see a recent pharmac_ charge for some medication (and with pharmac_ in the business name for the charge) somehow come under the "Travel" category :D

Applied last night. Got a phone call today for another payslip. Approved a short time later. Now you wait for the points to go towards a tokyo - U.S. redemption hopefully.

Me four. :D (And HSBC points posted this morning as soon as their statement advice received in my inbox).
Off you QF.com.au you go... :)

The HSBC bonus arrived with the first statement? I recall it taking several statement cycles a few years ago when I was with them.

Of course the annual fee for the Premier card hit yesterday. I wonder if that was the hold-up for the point transfer.

My annual fee was charged very early on - within the first few days. Still waiting for the first lot of points to hit. Perhaps Citi detected that I have just closed my Prestige card, thus wanted to make sure I get charged for the annual fee first.
