Woolworths gift card thread

At the other extreme - there is another store where they actually order in the cards just for me :) ... 700 in May alone. The supervisor will close off a terminal and we'll spend a a fun 30 minutes putting 100 cards through each visit.[/QUOTE]

That almost sounds like a dream :)

Yup, all for ato - 2 x smsf + company.

I also do 10 push ups every ten cards just to break it up. 100 cards and I'm stuffed !

Can I make a suggestion that you break that up further with the occasional 10 sit ups, 10 burpees and 10 star jumps. If you get Richard Simmons on VHS in the background, you'll never be tired. Go forth.

Oh yes. There is one store where they hassle me every time I buy the cards - cashier -> supervisor -> manager -> maybe a phone call to head office -> me for my miserable 5 cards. Every. Damn. Time.

Funny that. What you are actually asking is, "Can I spend more money at your store?"
First store: "I will make it as hard as possible to let you spend money at our store".
Second: "Not only do I welcome spending at our store, I will assist in giving you the added opportunity to spend more money". :D

Do they put limits on the number of apples you can buy? Or any other item?

It's almost perverse we're spending money in their supermarket. They think we're up to something illegal.
Once got asked if it was for charity. I smiled.

A word of warning for those buying gift cards at woolworths group stores (though this is hardly a surprise): always get an activation receipt and ask questions if you don't.

I was doing my usual thing purchasing two eftpos GCs at a self check out at a Big W when only one activation slip printed. Naturally, I panicked, but casually walked over to the self service desk and advised of the situation.

Called the number on the back of the card who confirmed the card with no slip looked like it was activated but no funds were loaded. Other card activated fine. Was advised to wait 24hrs.

Needless to say 96 hours later, still no funds on the card and was told by tech support to go back to big W because "they will know how to load the money". Strangely enough the self check out in question had no troubles balancing a few days ago so they had no idea where the money went either. Ended up giving me another card, but this was out of process as the counter staff have no way to diagnose why the machine did not correctly send the $105.95 to the gift card people.

If I hadn't gone straight to the self service desk on original purchase day - who knows what experience I may have had trying to demand a refund for a card on which i'd scratched off the pin number (to check working).

I too can relate to this but a different type of issue

I recently ordered a large order from dan murphys, there was an error and I ordered the same order twice

they sent me a refund including a phyusical gift card even though I used an ecard

I had to activate the card via phone which I did,
they said 20mins to 24 hours max

3 days later its not activated and I contact dan murphys, they pass the buck onto woolworths

I was asked to provide a photo of the back and front, and where I tried to use it and when ,

its now 3 days later and I have been told its up to 2 weeks for the investigations team to even look at it

so the moral of the story is that there are drawbacks of gift cards too!

Just noticed 5.7% discount offer on CR for WOW egift cards. Wondering when it ends as my Amex is full until payment goes through.

Anyone having any trouble with purchasing WISH cards this morning? I ordered one at 9.50am and haven't received the email confirmation of order yet. This is normally instant. I realise the voucher can take a few hours, but the confirmation of order has always been instant for me.

UPDATE: Just received the tax invoice. Assume the voucher will arrive soon. Strange that there was no email confirmation of order. I've always received this every time I've ordered these e-gift vouchers and after just checking i can see that I've made 86 orders!

FURTHER UPDATE: E-gift card arrived at 11:52am

The 5.7% cashback special has probably cuased a large spike in demand slowing down processing. They do it manually to try and minimise fraud.

What time was it? I did it pretty early within first 10mins of the ozb post, got the cards quickly.

Thanks - sorry I missed that. I think I'll be buying up some only1 Visa cards. Just paid $4000 insurance bill with them this week. Glad the online portal allowed me to specify individual payment amounts. Bit time consuming but worth it for 12k MR points haul for $40 in surcharges (plus $0.65 per card).
