Sri Lankan ETA

I obtained an EVisa (paid $35 tourist visa) back in February/March as we were due to arrive in Colombo on a cruise ship and depart that night. As it turned out it wasn't needed.
That EVisa states I have to enter by 23 July. We are flying into SL on 22 July and staying until 28th from memory.

I have tried to obtain a new visa but get an error message saying I already have one for the date I enter. I've emailed the SL embassy but of course no response.

I think I have 2 options. Get a visa stating I arrive after the date above, or just hope it's accurate and I don't need another one. I think once it's approved you can enter from that date onwards?

We are travelling from LHR so clearly don't want to be stuck in London.

What would you do?

Airlines usually ask if you have an ETA for Sri Lanka, but as the ETA can also be obtained on arrival, there is no need to have one to board a flight. Your ETA should be good for 30 days and double entry if you arrive before 23 July. In any case the immigration agent will let you know if you need to get a new ETA at the airport.

Thankyou. I thought it had to be purchased before arrival.

You won't have any problem, went for weeks stay there last year on our way back from UK and had the Visas in another bag and for got about them Didn't realise till the next day, we had had them, even if you don't have one or yours have ran out you can get them on arrival as mentioned .

I do know they are linked with your passport which is why I got the error message when I entered my details so probably paper version isn't needed. But good to know I can sort out on arrival if needed.
